Measuring meat?

When you measure your meat, do you do it before or after you cook it? I have noticed that it can lose up to an oz. in weight after it has been cooked.

    I weigh it after it's cooked.

    Calories are the before cooking weight.

    For accurate calorie counts according to most entries on here and any nutritional information found on the packaging itself, it's best to weigh it prior to cooking.

    I weigh mine raw....

    Weigh it raw, and then cook it. Unless the entry specifically says "cooked" it is giving you the nutritional info for the raw weight.

    Before it's cooked. The calories after cooking are the same you just cooked out the moisture. So 4 oz may be 3 oz after cooking but the calories are still the same as the 4 oz you began with.

    That's right, but if you were to weigh it afterwards and record that, you wouldn't be recording enough calories.
