Ok I am four months into my new me journey and I have lost 44 pounds in the past 4.5 months . I decided this week I would try going the low carb route . Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

  • Follow the south beach or adkins. I found the Sobeach tastes better lol. you must drink more water if you go low carb and don't stray. going to low may cause stravation mode then it will stop working for you! Good luck!

If you dont want to feel really tired and strung out decrease your carb intake slowly that way your body has time to adjust. I try to aim for my intake to be between 50 to a 100 a day and I have been losing steadily.

I follow the Primal Blueprint which tends to be lower carb since grains, legumes, and soy are not allowed on the lifestyle. I'm also T2 diabetic, so LC has been really helping my numbers. I've been insulin & metformin free since going Primal in January!
My diary is public if you're curious.
I'm not saying it's the right way to go, I'm just saying it's the most delicious ;)

I am SLOW carbing which is way better. I feel full, get plenty of fiber and there is more variety.

ok thanks for all the input but now i need to know what is high in fiber and low in carbs ? Ive only had 10 carbs today but hardly any fiber and its 10 pm and I still need to eat at least 400 more calories .

that is one problem I had with south beach, I like it and it worked for me BUT I got constipated. so... I suggest a 'modified' south beach with just a little more fiber - probably slower but I'd rather be regular

    Vegetables.

start religiously reading labels if you don't already, you will learn very quickly :)

More complex carbohydrates. I will cook up a batch of beans (any beans) and lentils. This way you can control the sodium in them instead of buying cans and also cost effective. I will cook up some lean ground beef or lean ground turkey, chicken, etc. I will steam veggies. I like to combine the beans, meat and veggies in a bowl and it's so filling!!! Slow carb. I also eat double fiber bread when i have breads. I stay away from "white." No white flour, white bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, etc.
