Has anyone tried the Raw Foods Diet? Can you tell me a little bit about the plan, and how you felt while you were doing it? I just finished a fruit fast (6 days) and I felt GREAT! I dropped 8.4 lbs. and had a ton of energy! I'm thinking the raw foods plan might make me feel energetic like I did doing the fruit fast.....

I've done the raw foods diet and I feel really good. That's my preferred way of eating. At the moment I'm having pain in my gums and can't eat anything so I'm living on protein shakes until it gets better. But then I will go back to raw. You have the option of going 100% raw or as much as you like. I tend to eat about 75% raw. I'm not much into the seared meats. There are a ton of websites and recipes online that give ideas about what to eat besides just salads. One thing that they tell you is that you will automatically lose weight. I don't know. I can maintain on it, but I don't lose. But then I dont' lose on any diet. I think my body is done. But there are things that seem like they would be fattening if eaten too often. There is a lot of stuff prepared with avocado. My favorites are tortilla soup and of all things, chocolate cake and chocolate pie, all made with avocado. And while the whole chocolate and avocado thing sounds dreadful, its absolutely heavenly. I make a cake or pie and give at least half of it away, so I'm not tempted to eat it all.

Thanks everyone for your quick replies! I ordered a book this morning called the "Raw Foods Detox Diet" by Natalia Rose. I am going to do some research online tonight, too.

The fruit fast that I did was supposed to be a 5-Day fast.....I continued it for an extra day because I felt great! The 7th day, I added some veggies, and some homemade banana bread. I definitely feel the difference when I eat breads and baked goods. I love them, but my body doesn't digest them as easily! I ate a LOT of fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, black raspberries), winter squash, tomato, zucchini & summer squash, and avocado! (You can have the seeded vegetables like squashes.) And, my new favorite food: Avocado!

tried it last year to detox and the first the 3days were the hardest! so expect mood swings in headaches. all in all it was great way to detox! lots of salads and smoothies now is the best time to do raw since its summer and during winter it tends to be a little harder to eat raw since warm food is more comforting
