Beef with Cucumber Raita

Raita (RYE-tah), a simple, cooling salad of yogurt and chopped vegatables or fruit.
Fast & Low Fat
I wouldn't suggest "just" anyone to make this. The sauce is extremly similar to greek tzatziki sauce which is a yogurt cucumber base sauce that not everyone likes. If you try it, I would serve the sauce on the side unless you are very sure this is something you like. The sauce is quite inexpensive to make if you just feel like trying something new to give a new flavour to your foods. This is also a great sauce to add to steak or chicken in a wrap. I posted this more for the sauce than anything. It is very low fat and gives a nice taste and change to lean meats. The nutrition value is based on the entire meal, if you are only using this for the sauce then you will have to recalculate. **Anything in parentheses is what I used or changed**
Start to Finish: 24 min Makes: 4 Servings
1 8 ounce carton plain fat-free or low-fat yogurt (0% Greek plain yogurt)
1/4 cup coarsely shredded unpeeled cucumber (1/2 cup combination of peeled, chopped and pureed)
1 tablespon snipped fresh mint (I opted out of this ingrediant)
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1 pound boneless beef sirloin steak, cut 1 inch thick ( I think this would be great with chicken as well)
lemon-pepper seasoning
1/8 teaspon garlic (my addition)
1. Preheat broiler
Raita (similiar to greek tzatziki sauce)
In a small bowl combine yogurt, cucumber, onion, snipped mint (if you were brave to do it), and sugar. Season mixture to taste with salt and pepper; set aside. (I added some roasted garlic to this mixture as well)
2. Trim fat from meat. Sprinkle meat with lemon-pepper (I seasoned it VERY well). Broil for approx 10 to 13 min for medium rare or 14 to 20 for medium. ( I suggest taking these times for doness with a grain of salt, it all depends on your cut of meat and your oven.)
3. Cut steak across the grain into thin slices. If desired, garnish steak with some mint leaves (if you are REALLY brave) Top or serve on the side with Raita.
**No Picture** I decided after looking at the picture it didn't give the best representation.
Nutrition: 176 cal, 4g fat (1g sat, fat) 312 mg sodium (depending how much you add) 5g carb, 0 fiber, 28g protien (more if use greek yogurt)
This is not my own creation just altered, original recipe came from, "Better Homes and Gardens, Special Edition"
