Hey y'all,

I was talking to my mom earlier. One of my aunts has had a systemic MRSA infection for several years. It is destroying her body, basically ... I don't know what kind of treatment she has had for it. They live in a tiny town in Indiana & I think her doctor has basically told her there is nothing they can do.

My uncle wants her to go to Mayo Clinic but so far she hasn't wanted to go. It's getting to the point where she probably can't continue living very much longer with this.

I know there are some medical professionals that post on here. Mayo Clinic is great and the best at a lot of things, but I wonder if there is another tertiary care center in the country that is the top in infectious diseases/MRSA that might be a better choice (if we can talk her into going for a consultation).

I'm going to do some research on my own ... just trying to use all my resources!

Thanks for any information...

from what i understand about MRSA is that yhere really is nothing you can do for this it is a infection that is pretty much resistant to any antibiotics, i work in a nursing home and i have had several residents with this, they give them antibiotics and we just use universal precautions when we are around them.

Thank you ... I will definitely share that information with them!

She is still up and doing almost everything she's always done, but she is getting sicker and sicker... I know they are developing new antibiotics all the time so maybe they can find a treatment for her somewhere.

    Thanks again!

MRSA isn't deadly to the average person, it's the people that are already sick that it is bad for. I've nursed many people with MRSA and have yet to get infected.
