Which is mroe accurate? The Elliptical says I burn way more calories than MFP does when I input the time.....Which is correct? The Elliptical does not know how much I weigh, but MFP doesn't know how hard I work out or what level.....

I log somewhere in between. (treadmill or elliptical) :-)0

Probably the elliptical...Because it uses your speed while you're working out and your resistance level.0

In my experiences, NEITHER are right!! I don't even know if either are 'roughly' right..a heart rate monitor will give you the most accurate number of calories burnt :-)
Mfp was short in my calories burnt when using the elliptical, as was the machine it's self, but for the treadmill, mfp showed I had burned 400 calories MORE than the heart rate monitor and the machine it's self was 200 calories OVER. this amount of variance convinced me that the numbers on mfp and these machines have no way of being accurate...I go by what the HRM says .0 -
I don't trust either. You may want to invest in a heart rate monitor. You input your information and it tracks your heart rate. It's probably not as accurate as it could be, but way more accurate than the machines.0

I use a heart rate monitor with a chest strap---I do an ARC trainer, I put in my weight into the ARC trainer. It still comes out way too high according to my heart rate monitor. I would never rely on those machines or what MFP tells you, but rely mostly on a heart rate monitor.0

So far in all my exercises, my HRM has been pretty much on par with what I log on MFP. One or the other may differ here and there with calories, but only by a few, never even been more than 10 cals out0

Thanks everyone....I have an HRM but it does not track calories burned, only heart rate. I will look for a new one.0

What everyone else said :-)
I would take what the machine says and take a minimum of 100 calories off it! :-) I was logging way to much when I used the machine!
HRMs are the best way but not everyone can afford one with a chest strape- that is when I would suggest reducing the number on your machine, again 75-100 calories. As I am getting smaller I notice the number is off from the machine by 140-160 (as it was last night)0 -
I can't afford a HRM but the eliptical at my gym uses my weight info and monitors heart rate too, so I go by whatever's on that.0
