Ok, I am losing weight steadly (28lbs so far) but I have noticed that I seem to be retaining more fat in my upper back? Just to give you an idea I have a 32" waist but I wear a 41 inch bra size. =(

Does anyone have ideas on what exercises/strength training routines I can try to target this area? I know that i just need to lose more weight (which I am doing) but I want to start seeing success in this area, like I have everywhere else!

I am afraid to tell you that you cannot spot reduce any areas. The fat comes off when and where it wants! However, cardio and strength training; along with a sensible diet will eventually shrink those fat cells!

Do you belong to a gym? he machine I find that helps with that is the assisted pull up. Pretty much anything to help strengthen your back.

Thanks everyone! Yes, I joined a gym but workouts from home are my best bet (I have a 10 mo. old and a 4 yr old). Thanks for that website! I found some good ideas.

I agree with the assisted pull up (and the assisted dip)

I haven't found a way to do them at home. Also search for rotator cuff exercises, that will pull in the muscle from under your arm-making it look tighter.

Nothing for spot fat reduction sadly. It's why I now have fantastic legs and arms, and a big round belly. I look like a candy apple.

Jillian Michaels 30Day Shred or No More Trouble Zones. I saw amazing results with both, although they recommend 2-3lb weights and I use 5lb. I'm not sure if that makes a difference but I have seen my back/bra fat reduce significantly. I even lost 2 inches in my bra size (38 to 36) by doing the 30 Day Shred faithfully for the full 30 days.

I have noticed a huge difference since I started swimming! I'm down a bra size after 10 days of adding an hour of swimming every other day and haven't noticed any inch loss anywhere else on my body so it seems pretty localized. Good luck!

i dont know what this excercise is called but use the machine where you pull down the weight behind you neck (you can also pull the weight down toward your chest)

Thanks for the topic and the suggestions! You guys have helped me identify my next physical goal after the half marathon. It sounds silly, but I want to be able to complete an unassisted pull up. I have always wanted to do this (kid of the eighties, and I loved Terminator 2!!)
