Hey,
I have been sitting here for ages reading through topics that people have posted on here and i cant believe how supportive everyone is, so i was wondering if anyone felt like helping me aswell, either with advice or even add me as a friend
I have been up and down with my weight for as long as i can remember but never managed to get to the goal that i want 120-130lbs. i am 165lbs atm and 5'6/7" i just cant seem to get in the right frame of mind. i also suffer with IBS (have since middle school)and since xmas has caused my weight to go from 140lbs to 170lbs. This is the third acount i have had on here as keep giving up as just cant stop eating, and im never really hungry when i eat i just always crave foods, ive tried to start planning my meals and going to try eating 5/6 meals a day as seem people recomend that??
i also have a really bad habit of logging what i eat and if over my cals i just delete it all and prentend i didnt do it lol.

Hi there! I know what you mean about giving up after binging and pretending it didn't happen by deleting it. Add me as a friend and I will definitely help get you going motivation wise. I have to say the hardest part is the start! It took me until I lost my first 10 lbs to finally feel self motivated but now I'm almost half way to my goal and feeling better every day. Do you have any allergies along with your ibs? My boyfriend has it as well and has cut out wheat and gluten and is way better and lost about 30lbs.0

I understand where you are coming from. My opinion is this: Even if you go over in calories, log them anyway. You hurt no one but yourself by going over. And if you show others when you go over it may just make you make yourself do better. Even when you go over on your calories people on here will not critisize you. We all do it from time to time. I have struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. MFP has been such a great site to me. I have made many friends and motivators on here. We are all in this for ourselves, but we need to stick together and support each other along the way. I will send you a friend request and you can accept or deny, it is up to you. But just remember YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

I can't wait to see what people reply to your question/request. This sounds a bit like me.
Good luck!0 -
You can add me if you like...I struggle too and being there in the trenches with others in a similar boat may help. I try to be honest even when I go over, but like you I feel like pretending it didn't happen. I try to exercise as much as I can...I had been off the wagon for a week or so, but I am back and have been to the gym and riding my mountain bike. I don't know if I can call myself a motivator, but I can definitely be as encouraging as I can!0

You could also make your diary private. It's important to log, yes, even when you know you're going to be wildly over. It's all part of it. It's just a matter of eating as cleanly as possible for the most part. We all have parties, holidays, and cravings. You plan for them as much as possible, exercise the calories off before you go out to a party, and enjoy the new lifestyle. I have never felt better or had more energy, even when I was a teenager. If you want to add me as a friend, that would be great. I find it super motivating when I see one of my MFP's have done exercise and burned a boat load of calories. That always kicks my butt in gear to get working out.
P.S. I also suffered from IBS. Most severly in high school, but even still when I'm super stressed or have an arguement. Never gained weight from it, though, thankfully. I know it's super hard to handle when it's full blown. Hopefully it will become more controllable with time.

I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks, although the snacks are sometimes the same number of calories. Also if I get enough water, I dont seem to want to eat as often. I do chew on sugar-free gum throughout the day. Whether you have your food diary private or not, make sure you are honest with yourself. If it helps you to stay honest with yourself and log everything, then set it to private. This isn't a quick process and none of us are perfect. I guess I'm saying it doesn't have to be all or nothing, and by your story it sounds like you want to lose it quick, and if not just give up. Did you eat better today than you usually have in the past - if so that's progress. If not, tomorrow is a new day, fresh start.
Good luck on your journey!0 -
Hi, let's be MFP buddies . And first, maybe make a goal of logging EVERYTHING for a week and set up a reward for logging accurately and being truthful to yourself. If week two, you start slipping on logging, set the goal and reward again. This has been 6 years of baby steps, set backs, and successes for me. This site has been helpful. The number 1 is to keep going! Don't stop logging.0

I can relate about getting motivated... it is a day to day chore trying to stay motivated. I was over 300lbs 5'3 and hating myself. All I could hear in my head was words a friend said in passing. Give anything 30 HONEST days of trying... anyone can do anything for 30 days. If it doesnt became a "habit" or change of lifestyle go back to the drawing table. So I committed to 30 days the day after easter and have lost 27 since. I try not to have "cheat" days but do allow "cheat" meals now and then without the guilt. 30 honest days of trying. Hope this helps.0

I am literally your exact same height and weight! (166lbs and 5' 7") It's ok to feel a little down about your food diary when it's way overboard and out of control- that's kind of what it's there for! When I have a really bad day, I just try to take it all in and learn from it as much as possible so that I can pick myself up and do better the next day. No one is perfect and I think the whole benefit from logging your food isn't to feel terrible about yourself after your done- it's to think before you eat anything "just to eat it" or to stop yourself from eating too much out of boredom or making a poor choice.
I like having my diary open for all my MFP friends to view because if I know I HAVE to log everything, then I'll think twice before having a whole bag of candy or that 3rd piece of pizza. (Or I'll think about it and do it anyway haha.)
We're all only human and every day that you're thinking about your food choices and making ANY kind of an effort to adopt a healthier lifestyle is a step in the right direction. Just stick with it even if you're upset or frustrated and you'll only be giving yourself one more obstacle to say you made it through when you eventually find your stride.0 -
Wow i cant believe how supportive you all are, your comment are, and thankyou all for the friend requests. I cant believe how motivated i feel atm (lets just hope it sticks lol) I am definatly going to log all that i eat and im hoping knowing that people can see what i eat/ how many cals that it may stop me from going over board.
With regards to the question about food allergies i have been through so many test and nothing has came back with any definative results, i have tried cutting gluten, dairy, acidic foods, soy, high fibre and nothing seems to make a difference, i think personally its because i have a very anxious personality and always worry even about lil things and maybe that has some affect on it. I am also wondering if my weight maybe a factor which is another reason why i would like to loose the extra pounds.
Thankyou all so much for your comments!!!! xx0
