My husband has been getting concerned about the amount of calories I intake VS the amount I output.
I will use today as an example, and today I ate a bit more than I normally do.
I took in 956 calories and burned off about 600 or so. My allowed daily calorie intake is set to 1830, I have a generally active lifestyle, when I can and try to work out at least an hour a day, everyday.
I feel that it's fine, and matter of factly felt that I had consumed to many calories today (I had chocolate pancakes for breakfast and didn't even think about eating until after 8pm)
I am worried that perhaps, I am diluting my self, and that I may have a problem? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

That's far too low. Stay at or just a little above 1200 as a MINIMUM. Your weight loss is going to halt if you continue doing that.
However I'd consult a doctor or somebody before eating that low just in case.0 -

I have no training as a nutritionist but I do think also that what you're eating is far too low. You should look into your diet and try to eat a bit more, going from breakfast until 8pm without eating is not healthy for sure.0

You should really eat more. Read around about eating exercise calories and you'll learn a lot. :flowerforyou:0

Way too low of an intake. You aren't giving your body any fuel to work with! Your body is going to get scared and hold on to all your fat for energy because you aren't providing!
It may sound counter-intuitive, but you need to eat to lose weight. Try working your way up to the goal MFP gives you, they're pretty good with the math figuring out what your body needs.0 -
Speak with a nutritionalist to find out if this is actually too low for your body.
Sometimes doctors will recommend Very Low Calorie Diets to people that are severely obese.
For the rest of us, VLCDs can had negative effects on your body.
A doctor/nutritionalist will give you much more valuable information, as most of us are NOT dieticians or health care specialists.0 -
I totally agree with the previous poster that 1200 calories is the bare minimum you need to take in. One thing that will help you is to go to the tools area here and see what your *calculated* basal metabolic rate is. It really helped me understand better how cals in/cals out worked with my body and that i really DO need to eat 1400-1500 cals at least for myself daily to be able to loose weight. Your cal amount will be different based on your current weight, and your activity level during the day and how much you want to loose per week. I highly recommend that everyone takes a look at their numbers and understand them...as it really helped me to see the bigger picture of what my body needed to just do its normal jobs calorie wise. Hope this helps!0

Message me if you'd like, but that is not the way to go about losing weight or getting healthy! Your intake is far too low and we should all strive to eat about every 3 hours. If you can't even stand the thought of it, then you need to eat smaller, snack size meals more frequently. Also, up the quality of the food you are consuming. Every bite should count and go towards making yourself a healthier person. It should be fuel for your body and mind ... Make it count and make good choices please want everyone out there to be leading healthier lives0

Thank you all for the advice,
I will try to work up a bit more, I just feel 1830 is a bit high :S But I will try Thank you0 -
I consumed an avg of 900 calories/ day for 3 months. I didn't experience any ill side effects and lost an avg 2 lbs per week.
Someone on here convinced me this was bad for me so I upped to an avg of 1200 for the past 3 months.
The first 2 weeks after upping I gained weight because (I think) my metabolism had slowed way down to adjust to my avg caloric intake.
.
After those initial 2 weeks had passed.... I've lost an average of 2 lbs per week since.
More calories = same amount of weight loss. Plus I get to eat more food.
I think (just my guess) that there is a maximum rate at which a body can lose, so if you're not getting enough calories you won't simply lose more, your metabolism will just slow down.
The human body is a complicated thing... and these are just my own observations in inferences from those observations.
Do whatever works for you.. but don't make it harder on yourself than you have to.0 -
You need more calories than that. Your husband is right to worry about you.0
-
You are eating WAAAAAAAAAAAY too little, especially with all the exercise.0

Yep, I agree with the others.....you might be able to lose weight short term and kinda fast with a low calorie diet like you are doing - but it will catch up with you. When you start to "plateau" because you aren't eating enough, it's just because your body is slowing down getting used to the amt. of food you are putting in it.....you need to eat more to *fuel* your body - eat clean, healthy snacks every few hours and balanced meals for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Good luck - thanks for reaching out!0 -
The idea is to not go below a net 1200 calories. So if you eat 1300 calories but burn 300 doing cardio, that's a net 1000. Too low for your body to function in a healthy way. Even then, a net 1200 calorie day may be too low for some people. I know we all want to speed up the weight loss, but it could backfire. Too big a deficit from your BMR could sabotage your efforts.0

Please up your calories. I know it seems strange, but it really does work. This link explains it much better than I can:
