So...

I looked up heart rate monitors on my iphone and pretty much picked the first one (i was in a rush) and its the iheartrate app...so i quickly went through the tutorial which i didnt really think taught me much about the app and off I went...

I did a 30 minute power walk and 30 day shred as soon as i got home...all up I burnt 180 calories hrm....ok fair enuff....

what im wondering is....how often do you have to take your pulse??? I tried to every few minutes as I will sometimes jog during my power walk and then back to walking...then back to jogging etc...so my heart rate would be going up and down all the time...

yet i cant keep taking my pulse every few seconds cos its really hard to do that while walking or jogging and impossible during 30 day shred....

im just curious cos after i jog obviously my heart rate will be up more than when im walking....is it only really for use when your staying consistent speed etc???

how accurate is it??

does anyone know of a better app where you dont have to keep tapping for your pulse? is there one that you just hold or something?

You're better off spending a little on a HRM, I don't think what you're describing will be accurate at all. Probably better then nothing but with regards to accuracy it will always be very low.
