Hi all

Just a general query about diet/weight loss. Firstly I'm a 5'3" female and currently weigh around 137-140lbs - my goal weight is to reach 110lb. Bearing in mind I've only just started doing this in earnest, as my weight falls naturally around that zone, give or take - I'm wondering if what I'm eating and how I'm exercising (as per my diary) is likely to result in weight loss. I'm skeptical about diets but do really want this to work as a long term thing. I used to be 110lbs and looked and felt great, as my bone structure is really slight - at the moment I LOOK overweight, even though I'm probably not.

H :)

    Hi and welcome,

I love your profile pic by the way :-)

110lbs does seem rather low to me (I am 2 inches shorter than you and 112lbs is pretty thin on me - but each to their own!)

I have had a brief look at your diary and notice straight away that you are eating way under your calories and not eating back exercise calories. The data entered when you signed up has done all the calculations for you so you need to eat your recommended amount of calories

"Eating back exercise calories" is a subject of great debate here but I have lost almost 20lbs by always eating my calorie allowance and always eating back the majority exercise calories.

I would also make sure you have you goal as 1lb a week, as you don't have a vast amount of weight to lose this is the most realistic.

This is not meant to be a short term diet and you wont lose weight over night. It's taken me many months to get almost to goal weight :-(

You need to start viewing this as a new lifestyle plan, something that is going to be long term but something that is going to benefit you mentally, physically and emotionally.

(I hate the term diet - to me just means you will lost the weight, stop heatlhy eating and eventually put the weight back on)

Log in advance is another tip I would suggest. It is no real use logging after you have eaten something (too late then as you have already consumed the calories) but if you plan in advance you can make healtheir swaps, and see how many calories you have to play with each day!

Good luck and yell if you need anything!

I agree, you definitely need to be eating more. I also noticed that you don't seem to be drinking enough water. Drinking more water can actually aid in your weight loss efforts.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply! Yep, like most things in life I'm a bit of a rubbish planner!

I find eating back exercise calories hard for some reason - I think it's because for years I always tended just to eat one bigger meal late at night and not bother with snacking and breakfast... big mistake! So yeah you're right it's a lifestyle overhaul. I've just moved to the other side of the world form the UK (NZ) so that's another good reason for change. Already I notice spacing my meals has a great positive impact on my mood and general energy levels. I can't wait to get out of bed in the morning (which is always a good thing).

If I've done a good cardio workout, like today I find myself wondering what to do with 500 calories... I guess it's because I feel 'bad' that I'm eating more... suppose just getting my mindset used to that will change things.

:) Thanks for the friend request too have added you!

    H :)
