I'm going to come right out and say it: I am a chocoholic, I am addicted to chocohol. I love it in all forms. I love it white, milk and dark. I love it with fruit, I love it with nuts, I love it with chilli, I love it frozen in icecream, cold straight from the fridge, piping hot with milk in the form of hot chocolate and possibly most of all, I love it in cake.
Today my colleague brought in some cake she had made that was left over from her daughter's 10th birthday party. It was Betty Crocker Chocolate fudge cake. It was moist, dense and oh so fudgey, just like a chocolate fudge cake should be. It was coated in a lusciously thick layer of frosting. It looked divine!
She cut me a piece. it would have been about 10cm long, 5cm high & 1.5cm thick. I knew I'd been over in my calories the last couple of days, but I had been for a great walk this morning and thought why the heck not? No food is off limits to me, as long as it's in moderation. I grabbed my spoon and took a bite...
My goodness it was gooood! I savoured that bite and when it was gone, I took another, then another... then a funny thing happened... I didn't feel like it anymore. My head started spinning and I felt that having another bite might make me sick. I put my spoon down and pushed the plate away. In another time I would have scoffed that bit down and gone back for seconds before i even knew what was happening. I nearly cried. Not out of sadness for not being able to finish a delicious piece of cake, but pride that I was able to put down my spoon and not continue eating till I was stuffed, and amazement that my body is really on its way to becoming healthy. I heard it speaking to me and I listened.
A customer at a restaurant I worked at a long time ago once asked me to have the chef prepare "a suggestion" of the dessert that was on offer at the time. I had never heard such a term and asked her what it meant. She told me "Enough for 3 bites... the first 3 bites of a dessert are always the best". I never understood how someone could stop after 3 bites of a divine dessert, but I never forgot that day either. From now on, I am not going to feel guilty for indulging my dessert cravings. I am going to have 3 bites and savour each and every one!

Good Job. I have a 2 bit rule. If I can't resist...I'll do 2 bites then that's it.
For my chocolate fix I do 75% cocoa or higher dark chocolate. It's better for you and has a ton less sugar.0 -
Great job!!! My trick is that my Sister and I always share a dessert.0
