I am so pleased I ran 4 miles in 38.52 last night and also did my fastest ever mile 9.33! I took up running 3 years ago but had a year and a half off when I was pregnant and had my 3rd child. I started back in January and started dieting at the end of April and since then I've been on here and it has really made me double up the miles I do each week so that I can have more calories fo eat! People keep saying to me that I must be melting away with all the running I'm doing but when I look at my diary on here it makes me realise that before MFP I (and a lot of other people I imagine) always thought, "I've run a few miles, that means I can eat more than usual." NOT THE CASE!!!

Well.....technically you can eat more than usual - just not quite as much as you might think LOL!

I have a Polar FT4 and did a run last night with a group (just under 5 miles, about an hour so not terribly fast) - says I burnt 568 calories (Runkeeper gave me 578, so happy that they were both about the same) - so that's a certainly worth something!

My run this morning was just over 3.3 miles, 29 minutes, 348 cals  At least a yoghurt and a gin & tonic tonight

Meant to say congrats on your fastest mile ever!!!!

That's great. I'm really enjoying running. Just finished a 5k 4 weeks ago for the first time and did it in 38:24. No records but to be able to run that under 40 minutes was awesome. A few nights ago i broke my first mile under 10 minutes at 9:45. That was a great night. We are doing it! Keep up the great work.

Congrats on your fastest mile ever! Woo-hoo! It's great to know that all of the hard work has paid off. I am a runner, as well...I am so crazy about running with my Iphone and the Mapmyrun app. I HAVE to know how I performed and the exact distance of my run. I'm crazy like that.

Thanks for your posts! I know what you mean about beating your own time when running, it's such an achievement for someone that's not naturally athletic and even if it's not fast compared to a lot of people, it's an improvement and that's what it's all about. I started back in Jan doing 3 miles at 12 minute miles and now I can do 9m 30s when running 4 miles and about 10 30 when running 6 miles (much slower because I do it with other girls and we chat!). I feel like the running and the diet goes together hand in hand now because one helps the other. People are now noticing that I've lost weight and that's the best feeling ever!

Been running over 2 years and have yet to even run a 10 min mile so well done!

Before I started dieting I also ran and thought I could eat what I liked and never tracked my food- I put ON weight as a result, it's only now that the penny's finally dropped. Diet AND exercise is the only thing that works.

AMAZING!!! I did a PB of 23.58 on a 5km run this year and I was delighted. Thanks to MFP and eating back the exercise calories, I'm stronger, and fitter than before and I've lost half a stone!!! LOVE THE PB!!! xx
