17 Day Diet

I have been reading about the 17 day diet, and despite its classification as a fad diet, it seems pretty sound. The food category restrictions are short term - meaning carbs are pretty well out for a portion (2 weeks), and then re-introduced. There is no restriction on veg, and fruits are incorporated into the diet as well. I was on a much stricter version of this diet at one point, and had great success - until I got pregnant.
Anyone have success/horror stories, or general advice on this one?
As a side note - I don't do very well strictly with picking my own meal plan. I find it too easy to cheat.....

I did the Special K diet about a year ago and i lasted 6 days. I was really moody, couldn't concentrate and had no energy...haven't been able to eat Special K since as it makes me gag now!
Wouldn't advise it...it was the first diet i'd done too as i don't believe in them because you just pile on the weight once you start eating "normally"!0 -
This diet works well, it comes with a meal plan and also has a maintenance plan once you achieve your goal0

'I’ve been doing the 17 day diet since March and have lost 16 pounds. I've had a few times that I've strayed but get back on it. I didn't have any cravings for my old standbys make me feel good foods-chocolate, chips and sweets. But the most important and wonderfully surprising thing was that my sugar has droped by 40 points and my A1C count came down several tenths. My doctor said that if I keep it up, I can get off the Metformin and eventually get the diabetes diagnosis removed from my chart. That is my real goal and the weight loss is secondary. Since I am "old" and have yo-yoed so many times, I know my weight loss will be slow but I am persevering. I love the eggplant parmesan recipe and make it at least every other week. Makes me feel like I’m cheating. This is the only diet that has helped me stay on track over a long period of time.0
