Poll: Should I manually post weight gains in my feed?

I'm thinking about manually entering weight gains.

It's not to punish or shame myself for gains. I just happen to bounce around on the scale a lot. My feed shows a lot of losses that seem bigger than they really were.

Good idea or bad idea?

i just entered last night that i gained 5 lbs. I see it as facing reality. I believe you can't just look at the good but you also need to post the bad. It helps keep me honest.

I post weight gains if I have them. I have to be honest with myself and post the bad too.

I don't get why it doesn't show a gain like it does a loss! It doesn't give a very realistic picture of what's happening. I don't know anyone who is using MFP to gain weight so I don't know if works the opposite way for them?

I just recently went to Cornwall for a couple of weeks and gained a couple of pounds while I was away - I took it on the chin, accepted it, and am getting back in the swing of things. Does MFP think we are all so fragile that we can't cope with occasional gains?

A good topic, I'm glad I'm not the only one to question it!

It's reality, so I let my bouncing around on the scale reflect that in my MFP ticker. I only stopped when I plateaued for two months since I was going up and down the same 3 pounds and got sick of logging it!

Everyone bounces around the scale a lot... sweating from practice yesterday removed about 5 pounds for me... I keep track so I know what my water losses are.

Try to weigh yourself only once a week, at the same time. This will give you a stronger control point to look at. If this weight goes up or down, your making/breaking progress.

If it still fluctuates from week to week... Somethings off.

I weigh daily and post my weight variations in my food diary - be they good or bad.....and log weight officially on MFP once a week

Wait...some of you don't see your gains? When I gain or lose and log it, the weight in my signature section ticker goes up or down. Does that not happen to all of you?

I think that posting your correct weight in your food diary daily can be a good thing, but keep in mind that your weight fluctuates. Especially now in this intense heat that most of the US is experiencing. But if it helps you look at your food and water intake to see if it is corresponding to it, then do it. But make sure you pick a day to make it your official weigh day and that one is entered into your MFP weight log.

Yes that happens....but if MFP could add "....has gained X lbs since their last weigh-in" on home page it may help people's motivation, especially if they know others can see they've gained. May hold them a bit more accountable.....

I do this, too. I like to keep track so I can see if what I'm eating or doing is making a difference but don't figure my friends need to see the little ups and downs. Being congratulated for losing the same 2 pounds over and over seems silly to me.

It'd be nice if you could set the system to do it....but the design is just geared towards the idea that people only care about losing weight

Oh, OK. Now I understand! That would definitely shame me into not splurging here and there

Thanks, everyone, for all your input! I've decided to start posting gains in my newsfeed.
