Dietary supplement to promote healing?

Hello!

Don't know if anyone can advise, but I started biting my lips around the time I started dieting - read it can be a comfort thing, and life has been quite stressful too, so... it sort of makes sense. That's not really the problem - I can stop myself doing it now I've noticed it :)

What's bothering me is the huge split in my bottom lip which I've had for the last couple of weeks now, without it really getting any better. I'm assuming I'm deficient in something as normally it wouldn't take this long to be gone - though I do take a multivitamin every day and my diet is pretty healthy really.

Is there anything I could add to my diet to promote healing? Any suggestions appreciated. xx

    Zinc promotes wound healing.
  • More water (I mean over the usual amount) and LOTS of chapstick works for me...

I would say petroleum jelly or lanolin instead of Chapstick. A lot of the brands of lip gloss (even those meant to "treat" dry lips) actually have ingredients that make your lips MORE dry. There are 12-step groups for Chapstick addiction! And think about it, just like the producers of snack foods, the manufacturer wants to create a product that will stimulate you to consume as much of it as possible.

Are u taking a multi or other supplements? shakeology has literally allowed me to remain cold/flu free for over a year and my ailments seem to go away quite fast. It has all vitamins and minerals for the day plus antigens, adaptogens, prebiotics, anti inflammatory ingredients like blueberry and wheat grass.

It's a general multivitamin and iron tablet. Looked on the back and it doesn't seem to contain zinc so I'll try increasing foods that contain zinc in my diet, plus even more water (seriously, I used to live on like, 1L max in an entire day without being thirsty (though saying that, I did constantly eat so maybe I was!), now I drink tonnes!), and I'll try swapping the lip balm. Thanks! x
