I'm starting P90X next week (just waiting for it to arrive in the mail) and was wondering what equipment I should have. I've read that you need a chin-up bar, resistance band, free weights and yoga mat. I have a resistance band and a yoga mat...but not sure if I absolutely need the chin-up bar. Also, what kind of free weights do I need? I am a 30 y/o woman. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

if you have the bands you do not have to have the pull up bar, as for weights find something comfortable that you will be able to do bicep curls. shoulder presses etc

When I started I only had the Pull up bar and bands. Until I progressed and got stronger did I go to the higher weights. Do a week to two weeks of the workout before you buy any weights. Your bands might be enough. If you need weights at that time go get what you need.

If you have resistance bands, you don't necessarily need chin up bar or free weights.

My fiance goes up to 25-30lb dumbbells on the back exercises but mainly stays in the 5-10 range on all the other exercises.

chin-up bar and free weights for me. Not a big fan for resistance band myself.

Just like olag said. 5-10 range is perfect. And more for your back.
Only thing I notices when my gf works out with my dumbbells they tend to be too wide.
So we bought her some nice short handle weights (and i sometimes steal them from her because they are octagonal shape and use them instead of push up bars).
Start with resistance bands for pull ups and see how they fit you.
