So, I just started recently and of course 3 weeks in I get a terrible chest cold and my asthma starts acting up. I was always told growing up to starve a fever and feed a cold. So, is it a good idea to continue tracking calories and trying to lose weight when you are ill? Any ideas?

  • When I got sick a few weeks ago, I totally forgot about MFP for a few days and did whatever felt right.

Pay attention to your body, rest up, and get back to it when you are feeling better.

Didn't seem to do any damage.

when i get sick i drink lots of fruit packed smoothies.
  • Your body needs more calories to fight infection, so counting calories would not be a good idea when you are sick. You will stay sick longer, and protien is what you need the most right now, so chicken noodle soup really is a good idea both for your illness and to make you feel better!
