Ok, so I wanted to lose weight fast so I went to a nutrition center near my home. They guarantee 25-30 lb weight loss in 9 weeks average on their program. I checked it out. It is like a diabetic diet in that they restrict carbs to between 100-150 a day, low fat and calories are about 800-900. I thought, I can never do it but i am doing it, on my own after they told me that their program was 1200.00 !!!!.
I have been eating an Atkins shake for breakfast, lunch is a salad of lettuce, tomato, green peppers, fat free cheddar cheese, a small amount of blue cheese, 3oz of boneless skinless chicken cut up on top with Kraft parmesan asiago low fat balsamic vinegarette. Dinner tonight was 3oz boneless skinless chicken with green beans.
So, I started on Sunday morning and weighed in at 217. Monday at 214, Tuesday at 212 and this am at 211. 6 lbs in 4 days. Now, I know it wont last at this rate but I am very encouraged and now I understand how they can guarantee that kind of weight loss!!

If you're just eating 800-900 calories a day, then you will lose weight, but it's not always the best thing for most people. You tend to lose nutritional content under about 1200 calories.... That's an estimate though. Please be careful.
The reason it's better to do with under the guidance of someone with a nutrition background is that with their expertise, they can make sure you are getting what you need nutritionally to be healthy. It's more complicated than just calories in/calories out, when we're talking about fulfilling nutritional needs, unlike with weight loss.0 -

This is great advice. Agreed!0 -
Remember one thing besides your health...the faster you lose the weight, the more likely you are to gain it back. People want instant gratification, the magic pill, the easy and quick answer...the only true results come with hard work, proper nutrition and patience. Please be careful with your body...it's the only one you have and not giving it enough nurishment can really take it's toll!0

well, the thing is, I was always thin until my thyroid went. Before, I was 160-170 lbs. My weight zoomed up to as high as 235. Then, I could not lose. My body has a thing where I get to one weight and get stuck, can't gain or lose. When I get to my goal weight, I understand that I cannot return to the way I was eating but my dr thinks that I will get "stuck" once again as soon as the weight drops. I am also considering that the program cannot be that bad for 9 weeks when it is being sold for that amount of money and people are doing it. I am eating high protein and the low carbs are keeping my blood sugar from spiking. I figure, I can do anything for 9 weeks. I was 210 this am.0
