Every month, a week or so before my period starts, I am a snacking fiend! I can't get enough food and it is all I can do to not overeat!! It is sooo hard! I regularly exercise every day, yet those cravings don't go away. Does anyone have any tips? It is literally like I have an out of body experience because my hand shoves food in my mouth mindlessly. Hate it!! I would love any help or advice! Thanks in advance. :)

I need the answer to this as well...When I have my period or am ovulating I am just snacking like mad! I don't even realize I'm doing it! It is just like a little handful of this, a bit of that...but it all adds up fast.

I have this problem too. Mine is going to come any day now. And I know it because I'm moody and yesterday I ate an entire box of freezer pops (luckily the sugar free ones about 160 calories).

The best thing I've done for myself is to keep anything that I might binge on out of my house. It's strictly clean food in my house during that time of the month so that if I do binge it's on something like veggies that isn't going to hurt my diet too bad.

The really hard part is keeping myself from running to the grocery store to buy a box of brownie mix. So far I haven't got a full proof plan for that other than sheer will power.
  • Thanks for the tips and encouragement. It's nice to know I'm not alone in it. :)

I agree - just don't have ANY junk food in the house. Have fruit, veggie snacks, yogurts, etc. You'll still munch, but at least then it won't be on like BBQ chips and brownies.

Im the same, I try to make sure i have sugar free jelly in the house and ice lollies. I often have a spoon of natural peanut butter a that seems to help me. (clogs my mouth up and then fills me a bit).

i try not to have much sweets stuff coz once I start I cant stop! so also have boiled eggs, cheese, cherry toms, cottage cheese etc.

Last night my (very supportive husband) brought home some "Snack Well" brownie bites. The were absolutely delicious! I do agree that just before I start I could eat the house, but mainly chocolate! So now I'm on the hunt for anything low cal & chocolate. Others are completely right that if it's not in the house, I can't eat it. I have been trying gum and suckers, the same as I did to quit smoking. Good luck. :drinker:

Drink LOTS of water, keep up the exercise, and give yourself permission to eat a small amount of treat/junk food.

That's what has been working for me the last couple of months, anyway!

I went out and bought some mini bags of Lay's potato chips and bags of mini-oreos. On PMS days, I plan for 1 of each, every day.

This only works if you don't binge on all the mini bags and can limit yourself to just one! Just remind yourself that you get another bag tomorrow.
