I just started C25K this week, just did my second run today. I'm doing it on the treadmill with a 2% incline, 3.0mph warm up and cool down, 5.0mph running, 3.5mph walking.

That is pretty fast running! Question, for anyone to answer really, on the plan it says to "jog". Are we suppose to run this or actually jog?

Hello! Wondering if we should join forces? I posted a similar group request just this morning! Most of the girls are just starting as well - the bigger the group the better right?

Let me know what you think! :flowerforyou:

    Hey fmbarbuto!

I think that would be an excellent idea! When is your group starting the program?

Most of the girls are starting on Monday too! I actually did day 1 yesterday, but I can continue that for the first week to be in line with the group! Would be happy to redirect them to your group as well! You have way more ideas than me! Thank you for that!!!

I just did week 2 day 2 today on the treadmill. It was, honestly, the best run I have ever had! I have been battling shin splints and they didn't bother me too much today! :-) I wasn't winded nearly as much as I had been being...I know, I was probably running too fast, but today, I was actually running a little faster! I am so excited to be seeing a difference already! :-)

As for some tips? I have learned to stay hydrated and STRETCH before AND after! You will avoid the cramps while running if you stretch well before, but you will avoid some of the soreness if you stretch afterwards as well...and that's a good thing! I seem to be different than most people in that I find it easier to run outside. Our Rail Trail is pretty flat, so I don't deal with incline too much, but I can adjust a lot easier than on a treadmill. I can slow down a little if I start feeling cramps or winded. I just like it better.

Oh, and at this point, I am weighing in at 232.8! :-)

I started c25k 5 weeks ago and I love it! I am going running tomorrow morning 5.15am.

I really enjoy doing it at this time because it's light outside and it's a great way to start the day!

I definately recommend using the podcasts as constantly checking the watch can be annoying and distracting!

    Good luck!

Count me in! I just started this on Monday and just finished up with Day 2. Right now I am doing it on the treadmill just because it is horrendously hot outside and I have to do it while my youngest is asleep.

I'm thinking it's whatever you're comfortable with. Late elementary school/early high school I was on the track team for 100m relay, 100m dash and 200m dash. Got kicked off the team because my grades were too low. I can go fast, but not for very long. My endurance has always been really weak.
5mph is a pretty comfortable jogging pace for me, in fact I've kind of been considering pushing it faster. idunno

I usually run at 5.0 but I found that I can go longer since I dropped it down to 4.5. I figure once 5km isn't a problem I can then work on speed training.

Hi!! I would love to join in :) I'm from Fran's group. I started this week (Monday) with the NHS podcasts, and I'm loving it. I'm weighing in at 119lbs. I reached (passed) my goal as far as weight loss goes, I'm just here to maintain and get stronger :D

I'd like to join in! My current weight is 142.2.

A couple friends an I started C25K together; we run on the track while our kids play in the field in the middle. It's working really well for us! We did Week 3 Day 2 this morning - we started an hour earlier to beat the heat, since today's a scorcher. We added an extra 90 second jog/90 s walk, and then I did an additional 1/4 mile run (jog, really.)

    Welcome Winneau!

Fran told me some of your gals/guys would be joining us

I'll be sure to add you to the member list. That's great that you reached your goal weight! I can't wait until I am at that point

    Hey Collinsky!

    Thanks for joining

The more support the better! I think it's great you are able to find "real-life" friends who have the same goals as yourself. I find that a lot of my family/friends aren't really too encouraging of me losing weight, or rather they really don't care :ohwell: But that is why I have MFP! I'll be sure to add you to the member list (I will post it on Monday)

I need all the encouragement to get out there and do it that I can find, what with it being 110 degrees around here :D

I would like to join too! I'm officially starting on Monday although I've done 2 days this week. This thread thing drives me crazy trying to read through all of it though and then having to check back with it. Wouldn't blogging be easier? :)

    Hi Froggzy!

Thanks for joining us in the C25K plan! I plan on posting a members list with starting weight for the program on Monday.

As for following the thread; I know what you mean! It sometimes get confusing and sometimes it is annoying having to read through all of the posts to find the most recent/up to date one.

As for the blog, I think that is a great idea! I will keep this thread up until Sunday excepting people who want to join
On Monday I will create a blog

    Thanks for the idea!

I started the C25K last week but fell off the wagon due to illness (summer colds are the WORST!!) So I am hoping by Monday I can restart the program. So please add me to your list! Thanks!

    Hey Poizonivey,
thanks for joining! Hopefully by having other people who are doing the program with you will give you the support to stay on the bandwagon.
