If you are sick and don't have an appetite, don't force yourself. If you can get some soup and crackers down or something, then try that. But a short time of not eating much because your body can't handle it isn't going to send you into starvation mode. It's doing it for a significant period of time. So, don't stress out about the food. Just focus on feeling better! :flowerforyou:

I usually try and get a smoothie down... if nothing else it has some nutrition and I am a baby I hate a sore throat so the colder the food the better if you ask me.
I hope you feel better soon

I agree with Tam. Try some soup or broth or popcycles, but don't stress it.

It depends on the type of sickness, but if you have an upset tummy, doctors usually will recommend lots of fluids, and the BRAT diet. Bland foods will be more likely to stay in your tummy, B- bananas, R- rice, A- applesauce and T- toast (dry or with a bit of jam), dry unsalted crackers are good too. Hope you feel better soon!:flowerforyou:

I second kerri. And with the stomach flu for a week, YOU HAVE TO GET SOMETHING IN. Or you get in the hospital...

Woah.....if you're too sick to eat, you're too sick to work out.
Unless you are just suffering from a stuffy nose or some sinus congestion, don't work out--for your sake AND for the OTHER people at the gym who don't need your germs.

If you have swollen glands, chest congestion, coughing, a sore throat, or anything in or below the neck, you need to refrain from exercise until you're better. Deep breathing will only cause more mucous production, and you body will provide energy to your workout efforts INSTEAD of providing it for your immune response. If your glands are swollen, it means you are fighting something nasty. Rest and focus on getting plenty of fluids and trying to eat more.

agreed. not to mention the HUGE deficit you'd be creating by working out and then eating nowhere near enough calories.:flowerforyou: get well soon

It's good that you're feeling better! However, that is one of the MOST important skills to pick up with this lifestyle--making it a LIFEstyle. You have to be able to take time off and get back to it...it has to become an everyday habit that can flow with the rest of your life. You can't let yourself fall totally off the wagon every time you miss a workout or have to take a break. Taking weeks off is *necessary* to allow your body to recover both physiologically and neurologically. No one--not even serious athletes--trains every day, all year round. You need to get used to taking breaks and getting right back on track when you can.
