Help, should I weigh on not?

I used to be a weigh addict, and now I haven't weighed in well over 4 months. I know I've gained probably 10 lbs. I have about 15 lbs, that I go up and down over the year, because I'm not consistent in my eating and exercise. I have all the information about weight loss and exercise, maybe too much. In '05 I did WW to lose 30 lbs. of baby blubber, then another 10 on my own, counting calories and fat. Then I went up and down between 140-150. I did another calorie count while in mid'training for a race and got down to 133, but then after went back up to 140. I did Slim4Life after my husband joined, just because he dropped so fast and I still couldn't get into my pre-preg clothes, it worked great and I got down to 125, but I was lethargic and resentful of the strict diet and all the supps, and food you had to buy from them, now everyday I get up have mostly a great day and then flop somewhere with food, or just no exercising. I've tried so many things for motivation, challenges w/ neighbors, new programs, going back to old diets.:explode:
Okay, so now I'm too the point that how do I know what I should weigh? I've done so much reading and I know I'm still in a healthy range, or maybe a few lbs. out of it, but I could get to and maintain 130, but what if that's not the number my body wants to be at? How do you know what that number is? So my idea was to eat healthfully, exercise, be consistent, and let my body get to where it needs to be, good idea right? But I think because I don't know if any weight's coming off, I cheat, or don't do anything. I'm going crazy, but I'm afraid to be a slave to the scale again.
I am so sorry for this rant, but I am just so frusterated!!!

Get a reliable scale. Choose 1 day of the week to weigh in every week. Get up first thing in the morning, go potty, strip down to your birthday suit and weigh in. I try to weigh in about the same time everytime. For instance, I weigh between 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. Start posting your food everyday, and your exercise, weigh in 1x per week and you'll see the changes. It's nice to know where you are and to track everything that goes into your mouth.
Good luck!!!:drinker:0 -
If you've been a scale slave in the past, it's hard not to slip back into that behavior.
Here's what I do, and it has saved my sanity.
Go buy a 99 cent tape measure, and have someone measure you at specific areas. Be precise: Like "thigh four inches below hip" or "arm 2 inches above elbow. I also do waist at belly button, waist at its smallest point and hips at their widest point. I measure once a month. Since I weight train and do isometric-heavy yoga, I've actually gained weight over the past year, but I'm smaller.
If you must weigh, I would recommend once a month for that, too. (this is just my opinion) I do it on the same scale, at the same time in the am.
But, seriously, get a tape measure. It's such a better indicator of overall progress. If I was going by scale alone, my past year would have been a "failure", even though my clothes are looser and my body is tighter.
