Weight Fluctuation

Ok, so on any given day my weight can fluctuate up or down 3-5lbs. I don't always eat the the same amount of calories nor exercise away the same amount every day. I can eat like crud and drop 2lbs or do a great job and put on 3. I usually wiegh in the morning (yeah, I know you shouldn't weigh every day , but it keeps me honest), so it's not like my weight is differing because of the time of day. I've always been like this. so when I track my weight it looks like a saw (up and down almost daily). Just wondering if many other people have this same thing happen.

This is why I stay away from scales and judge by the way my clothes fit. Scales are extremely damaging to my mental health. It's so frustrating because weight does fluctuate depending on any and everything under the sun. Or so it would seem. To answer your question, I've weighed myself at night recently and freaked out because of the number on the scale. The next morning I was down about 4 pounds to my relief.0

I weigh every day too. I only log the weight on here when it's the same 3 days in a row. Mine doesn't fluctuate quite that much but it does move a pound or so.0

Absolutely - I recently had 2 weeks where I had these huge swings - up to 4 lbs in a day....... but then it started settling a bit again - but still see 1 to 2 lbs swings....0

yes this happens to me and also the reason I weigh daily cause even though my weight goes up and down. Not only does it keep me honest but also keeps me on track0

Yep - sure do! Sometimes there seems to be a pattern, but other times - none! Right now I am kind of on maintenance so I just try to keep below a certain limit, and if I creep up, I really know I need to watch it!0

I weigh daily but only record my Sunday morning weight here on MFP. My weight swings alot and I like to see what seems to cause the biggest swings. As long as you don't let the scale dictate how you act, I don't see it as a big deal. For me it's just a tool and I am curious how my body responds when I eat a certain way....0

Mine can fluctuate up to 4 KILOS a day (that's almost 10 lb) depending on what I've been doing/whether I am premenstrual. I have irritable bowel syndrome and quite often I have a lot of bloating which seems to correlate to a huge increase on the scale. It does go away, but can be disheartening. I've found since I've cut out most processed foods that I don't fluctuate as much, usually by about 1 - 2 lb instead of such a huge amount.
I weigh every day and as long as the figures are still going down rather than up (within the fluctuation range) then I know I'm ok. Better than burying my head in the sand!0 -
I make sure I only weigh myself once a week at my parents house...it would be too bad for me to do every day as the fluctuation i'm sure will be quite large.0
