ok so I totaled up my food journal and it says 'if you eat like this every day you'll weigh 183 in 5 weeks' great. then later I was chatting & suddenly remember oh drat! I forgot to post that glass of wine I had after dinner - so I go back and the little voice NOW says 'if every day was like this i'll weigh 184.7 in 5 weeks'

WHAT!?? ONE glass of wine, 170 calories cost me over a POUND? how does THAT work!?
not that I can't live w/o wine but that hardly seems fair
is that right?

    5 weeks X 7 days in a week X 170 cals per glass = 5950 calories

    3500 calories = 1 lb

So where as a periodic glass isnt going to kill you, a daily one wont necessarily help the weight loss

cause the extra calories every day add up to 1.7 lbs more over that amount of time. so they must add up to almost 7000 calories if you were to eat those calories everyday until then and not burn them off. its a dumb tool that just calculates the deficits over time in relation to 3500 calories=1 lb

That extra glass of wine (or calorie equivalent) everyday for 5 weeks is almost 6000 calories! That is how it costs you over a pound.

Remember it's 170 calories *over and above what you need*, every single day for five weeks.

lol they have low cal margarita mix, and the hard liquors dont harbor much if any cals, its the mixers that kill you!

You don't necessarily have to work it off unless it takes you over your daily calories. My weakness is hershey bars and instead of worrying about how much I'll have to workout to burn it off I just plan my day around it to include it in my daily cals. Hope this helps!!

I think that when it says, if you ate everyday like this," it is saying assuming you will have the same caloric intake in the next 5 weeks as you did today. Let's say you ate 1500, it will assume you will ate 1500 for five weeks. Based on this, it will calculate the calorie deficit and calculate your weight loss
