Hi, I'm Jessica. I'm new to MFP, but not new to the online weight loss blogging community. I was a member on sparkpeople.com and my sister told me to join her cause it was more user friendly. I'm 28 years old and I'm a nanny for the two cutest, sweetest two year old twin boys in the world.
I have been working out at the gym regularly since March, but have cut all pop out of my diet since January. I have lost 25 lbs so far and as soon as I can figure out how to update my ticker, I will My goal is to lose 100lbs. So any suggestions, tips, whatever PLEASE tell me!
Anything else you wanna know, just ask. I'm a very open and honest person.!

First congratulations on losing 25 pounds. Don't lose that in the bigger goal. You have already been a tremendous success. I think it is hard to be around younger kids and not eat what they do. Maybe they have health conscious parents and that isn't an issue. Great job on breaking the pop habit; I still want it.
So you probably know to drink the 8 to 10 glasses (8 oz each) of water each day. Eat good quality protein so that it helps control the hunger and munchies. I know you probably have activities with the kids. Will they sit in a stroller or ? so you could go walking with them for 30 mins; 45 mins; and hour? Is there a park nearby that could be the treat at the end.
Try to limit or eliminate carbs and sugar - it isn't easy. Veggie carbs are o.k. Try to stay away from the bread, chips, pasta, potatoes, etc.
Remember you are worth it. Remember that you can show these young ones good, healthy eating and exercising habits.
Good luck on your journey.0 -
Hi CC- I thought for sure you were calling my name... LOL
What I suggest is that you check in every single day no matter what. Here is why:
1. Journalling is extremely helpful in weight loss
2. You will get and give support and that helps your motivation
3. It is really cool when you log in and your home page says you have logged in for 5 days in a row, 10 days in a row, etc. If you miss one day you go back to square one. I was so bummed when I missed a day after about 3 weeks and now I am on day 20 and it is fun to see it pop up.
Good luck to you! Oh and don't be too hard on yourself if you slip up, you are doing so great having lost 25 pounds and making good choices.0 -
Working out regularly is fantastic and breaking up with soda, too. What else can you remove from your diet?
It's difficult to give tips when I am not familiar with all of your eating habits, but you seem to have the right idea. Keep an eye on your portions and do log what you eat and how much. Try different activities besides and in addition to the gym. Oh, and since you are a nanny.... watch out for the extra calories from trying the babies' food and snacks and juices....
You've done great! Keep on!0 -
Your nickname gave me a chuckle! Definitely something I can empathize with! hehe.
Congrats on the 25 lbs! That's a huge success! Seems like you're on the right track. And you joined MFP, which will only help you even more.
You've already cut out pop and are exercising regularly, which seems to have helped you a lot! You're clearly on the right track. Personally, I did a bootcamp thing for 4 weeks (where I lost 12 lbs), and what they had us doing was cardio AND weights. Something about needing to have the muscles working to lose the fat. (I mean, I'm sure just running or walking CAN help you lose weight--but I think that doing weights as well as cardio speeds things up.) ALSO... They said it's BEST to work out in the MORNINGS! That way, you give your metabolism a good kick start, so it can burn calories throughout the day at a HIGHER rate than if you hadn't worked out in the morning. (If you work at night, you give your metabolism a kickstart but then you just go to bed! So.. there's an advantage to morning workouts.) Hope that makes sense!0 -
