Hey girl-what foods do you use to fill up the calorie void after you ride? I ran 13 mi yesterday and I was still coming up with a 1000 calorie deficit. I was just getting tired of eating. And since I know you watch your carbs, I thought you might have some good advice.

Hmmm, good question, I'd love to know too0

I was just getting tired of eating.
What a problem to have-- :grumble:
Congrats on the run-- that's incredible-- I'm shutting up now. :happy:0 -
when I ride, I don't have to watch the carbs--in fact, I have to eat more than I ever dreamed of eating to keep up my BG levels!
But, PB is always good and not too bad on carbs either though. Bananas are another one. Milk another. Cheese is a great one although I have to watch the sodium in it.
I really love Dreamfields Pasta--loads of calories and you only count a small amount of the carbs in it due to only a small amount of the carbs being digestible. And, it tastes just like "real" pasta, too! Throw on some cheddar cheese and YUMMY! Here's a link to their site: http://www.dreamfieldsfoods.com/
Now that cooler weather is here, I'm riding less and having to cut back on the calories and carbs--no fun! I miss my banana smoothies!0 -
A good thing would be to mix a protien shake in the blender and add a little PB, a banana, and ice.0

I forgot about nuts, too--great little calorie laden snacks! Pop a handful of almonds or pecans and you'd be amazed at how many calories you've just eaten! Plus, they've got lots of the "good fat" in them!0

How many calories do you guys eat when you ride that much?0

depends. I've burnt up as much as I think it was over 4000 when I did my Century ride (100 miles in a day)--I ate probably 60% of them--I mean, who can eat over 5000 calories (allotted daily plus exercise calories), in a healthy way anyway
Normally, I eat most of my exercise calories--which on a more typical day riding is 600 to 2000 calories.
When you exercise that long, you can eat them, trust me! I get ravenous after a really long ride.0
