Exercise = Carbon Offsets

I use mapmyride.com to track all my cycling and walking miles. I noticed today that they just added some new stats called "Green Stats." Here's mine for this year since I started my health journey in April:

Total Workout Days: 92
Distance Traveled: 2,025.63 mi.
Gas Saved: 112.53 gallons
Money Saved: $391.62
Carbon Offset: 2,178.7 lbs. of CO2

Sooo. ... got me thinking--hmmmm....www.MessenTools.com-Humor-pantera-rosa-pensando.gif

wonder if I could start selling my carbon offsets?? :laugh: :laugh: Hey, if Al Gore does it, why can't I? I found one site that sells carbon off sets for $12 a ton; I'd have to do a LOT more riding to make a decent profit though!

    I think you should be able to sell them. Al Gore should keep his for heating his big house and driving his suv.

    So SR, do those stats mean that you have ridden your bike, instead of driving those distances?! Wow! I is impressed! Hugz and luvyas! :bigsmile: :flowerforyou:

    Yep! about 2000 of them is from cycling; 25 from walking. I track my miles, too, on a Government site that takes your exercise and converts it into a Virtual Trip Across America--so far, I'm halfway! Currently, I'm "in" Scott City, KS. Here's the link if you're interested in tracking yours, too. It's pretty cool and just another motivational tool I use.

    BUT, were your cycling/walking miles in lieu of driving on an errand or in addition to driving on your errands? I run 4 miles three days a week yet accomplish nothing more than getting my cardio workout in. I wouldn't be driving those miles if I wasn't running them and I'm still driving to the store for shopping. If you're walking/cycling to the store, or to work, or somewhere you you would drive to, but aren't now, that's another thing. Then sell your credits.
