drinking a lot of green tea ?

about a month ago, i was drinking a lot of green tea, and i was noticing that i was losing about .5 A DAY. i had no idea how that was happening and i obviously couldnt stop it if i didnt know the cause. my diet wasnt healthy which scared me even more. i was still working out though. i stopped drinking green tea for a while (hadn't been food shopping in a while so i didn't buy it) and i noticed my weight was no longer dropping it just remained consistent. it took me about 2 weeks to realize not drinking the green tea must have made my metabolism slower. is that even possible ? i just recently started drinking green tea again, but im not sure if im losing weight like i was before because i haven't been weighing myself. i read online that green tea can make the metabolism faster, but i dont know what to believe.
