Setting My Weight Goal

I adjusted my weight loss goal today to 165 lbs. This is based on the Devine calculation for the ideal weight (I read this is the one men should use and women should use one called the Robinson formula).

What are your thoughts? I think that weight would feel right for me too. How did you go about setting your weight goal? Did you use a scientific approach, how you feel about it, an educated guess, or a magic 8 ball?

    Tarot cards.

Actually, I don't have a number picked. Well, except size 8.

    Tarot cards.

    Don't tempt me!

    From the site:
    Reversing BMI formula: 119-159 lbs
    The Hamwi formula: 135 lbs
    Devine Formula: 137 lbs
    Robinson Formula: 134 lbs

I'm thinking "Are you f'ing kidding me?" I have photos of me looking skinny, not thin, but skinny at 150. Doc 1: 195 Doc 2: 200. I would like to be under 200 so 195 for me. I might adjust it but 159, the highest, is not in my range.

Whatever weight you think you'd be comfortable at. I'm going with the weight I chose and then I'll readjust as time goes on. That's the beauty... no restrictions.

If you're happy, that's what counts. You'll know it when you get there.

Thanks for sharing how you're doing it. For me, I really need some scientific way of doing it to stay motivated. I'm within 5 lbs of my current goal and this is the 3rd time I've adjusted it along the way. The first time was because when I got to the top of the BMI range, I didn't feel healthy enough. Today I felt if I lost another 15 lbs, I'd be too thin... so, I like the Devine measurement. It makes sense to me and I'm going to aim for that. After I hit that goal, my aim is to go into maintenance for at least 6 months to stabilize my weight while get more muscular and lean.

I did see my blood pressure stabilize and go "healthy" when I got into the normal BMI range. So, I'm a believer in the range for me. But, it was figuring out where in the range is right. I think I'm going to stick with the Devine formula for that.

I think that is the key. Finding a good weight at which you feel good and are healthy. BMI's are notoriously wonky because of various factors such as muscle tone. You will know it when you get there!

From your pics, in my humble opinion, I definately think you'd be too thin. I have no real goal weight yet. It will have to be something both I & my hubby can be happy with. I would get back down to 120-130, he on the other hand likes more boom and pow than I have at that weight...

I set my goal by what I was when I met my hubby! Very scientific:love:
