Slug-A-Bug
I think we all probably played the game as kids. When you see a Volkswagen Beetle you call out "Slug-A-Bug" and punch someone in the shoulder. Actually we'd say the car's color too, like "Green Slug-A-Bug, No Returns" and then "wipe off" the slug we just gave someone or they could slug us back.
My kids and their friends say "Slug-Bug" not "Slug-A-Bug". I know it's not much of a difference but to me "Slug-Bug" just sounds stupid and is even harder to say. Their long version is "Slug-Bug, No Tag Backs".
I guess it's my fault for not teaching them to play the "right" way. They had to pick up bad habits on the streets from their friends. There's a lesson in there.
What does everyone else remember?
What do your kids say?

My kids play 'Slug-Bug' and 'Tweeter' so frequently that I find myself calling it out and punching the air even when I am in the car alone.0

Our was always "punch buggy <color>, no punches back!". Long trips my family would throw down--by the end we looked like we had all fallen down a flight of stairs!0

Back in '04 I never heard of it until a drive from NJ to Orlando. We took my Niece & while I was driving all the sudden she reaches from the back seat & nails me in the arm & yells "punch buggy yellow, no punch backs". At first I was surprised but when she explained I laughed. Needless to say my arm was pretty sore by the time we got to our destination.0

We call it punch buggy or just "red" one for any type of volkswagon. My 10 year old is no longer allowed to sit in the front seat because I was getting seriously bruised from him!0

We called PUNCH BUGGY...we may have said the color as well...probably did. I think a punch on the arm of your friend, too.
That was a long time ago. When the street lights came on, it was time to come in.
We also called KA-DIDDLE if we saw a car with only one headlight.
Thanks for stirring memories!!
Remember "Red Light - Green Light", "Statues", "Ollie Ollie Oxen Free"...tag, you're it.0
