P90X or Insanity?

Okay, campers. I have a major decision to make. I am starting the Beachbody $100K challenge August 1st, and I need to choose a program. I want to lose weight, get major muscles and FINALLY look like a personal trainer (which I'm studying to be, but I don't look like it yet). I've narrowed it down between P90X and Insanity. I'm probably going to do a hybrid with one of those and 10 Minute Trainer.

So -- to those of you who have done these programs, which one do you recommend? I'm a pretty strong 45-year-old woman (I lift 15, 20 & 25 lbs. usually for upper & lower, although much lower weights for delts) and I like weightlifting. I need to get some serious results this time and I'm determined. I'm just on the fence.

Suggestions?

P90X for the muscle first, Insanity after to burn off any left over fat. :)

I'd say if you're looking for definition go for P90X. I completed this program a couple of years ago and saw alot of changes in my body. I stayed hungry all the time :) Could definitely tell my metabolism was in full swing. There are a few different programs with P90X, so check into that. I believe (without looking) there is one with alot of cardio combined. I've never done INSANITY so I can't offer any advice there. Another really good program is Cathe Friedrich STS. (www.cathe.com) Similar to P90X but you do her program every other day and the days in between you add your own cardio. Hope this helps!

I have done both programs. I was in my third round of P90X when I found out I was pregnant. I was in what I thought the best shape of my life with good muscle definition and cardio stamina. During my pregnancy I quit working out do to severe morning sickness and gained 50 lbs. To get back in shape 2 years later, I started with Insanity. I lost 20lbs (weight less than before baby) and have better muscle definition than I did before, my arms, abs and legs are all very sculpted after 2 rounds.

Now, P90X is no challenge to me. Both programs are great but I prefer Insanity now and I thought I was a P90X junkie for life. I love Tony Horton but Shaun T takes it to the mat every workout.

I have several other Beachbody Programs and love them all. It really just depends on your style of training.

    Hope that helps.
