hi all~
trying to cut sugar out of my diet. @__@ I used to be consuming 60g+ a day, and of healthy sugar too. Apples, bananas, cherries..
however i've come to the realization that sugar is sugar, and we need to break up. today is my 3rd day of eating below 26g of sugar, but it's so hard when a banana is 17g of sugar, and cherries are 1g of sugar each! ughh.
i never realized how fast it all adds up, my oatmeal in the morning came to 12g of sugar! almost half of my daily allowance. ): barely let me get away with peanut buttering my toast a few minutes ago.
anyone know of anything? not necessarily looking for sweet stuff, just.. no sugar stuff other than chips, cause those have been my calorie fillers to get around my sugar limit.
also, i haven't gotten the famous sugar headaches yet, but i do feel like doing absolutely nothing. i dont want to run, walk, anything. ): when does this spell get over with?

wow good luck..my trainer asked me to cut down my non-natural sugar starting this week. I have been doing more veggies as fillers but I could never go as low as you are. Good luck!0

good luck! without cutting out fruits & carbs, i'm not sure how you're going to do it. )0

switch oatmeal for whole rolled oats (no sugar added!) and cut back on fruit. there are peanut butters out there will little sugar (but the ones lower in fat have high sugar content) and limit to 2 servings of fruit a day. Say 1 banana and 6 cherries. I guess you don't want to go the 'fake' sugar route? Not a 'healthy' option!0

I am trying to do the same thing. well sorta, I am keeping fruits because they are good for you in general but limiting my intake to about a cup a day to every other day. I have also switched to soy milk ( you can try almond milk too but I hated it). For snacks I eat a bit more cheese than usual, fat free of course and usually has no sugar and comes in low calorie packs. I use a unsweetened soy protein powder. I also stay away from artificial sweeteners and things like stivia. I just do not like the taste. uuummm Fat free pringles has no sugar as far as snacks go that's all I have. Even after all that I still go over sometimes but it helps. You need to have some sugar in your diet your body does need it. Watermelon is a low sugar and low cal fruit that I LOVE. But like I said one cup a day to every other day.0

I eat a protein rich low carb low sugar diet. But I don't cut that much processed foods or sugars.. I haven't gotten headaches. I actually feel amazing. But really all sugars are not nessecarily created equal. I have cute most simple sugars out of my diet but i do allow myself natural sugars that are contained in fruits but I don't eat tons of fruit.
Really i would focus on getting rid of simple and white sugars and eat the natural sugars in moderation.0 -
Stevia in not artifical it is natural from the stevia plant. It is sweet but the molecular is of a sturcture that it does not effect your insulin levels the way sugar does
Also i would be careful and mindful of fatfree.
Fat is not bad for you. that is a misconseption. You want to get healthy fats. White sugar in many ways is worse than healthy fats.
I hope I am not coming off as rude, Iam trying to convey the scientific information in a short and sweet version of the chemistry of this whole process and I am working on an assignment at the same time. But I study this stuff so I am very farmiliar with it0 -
to me sugar is sugar. :9 i tend not to buy stuff that says "low fat!" or "no sugar!" just because i know it's a marketing scam.
i try for high protein-- i got 116g today, but some days i'm lucky if i make it to 50. all depends on what i have available to me that day and if i go to the store ( i tend to only buy 3-4 days worth of food at a time, i'm bad. )
yeah, it's rolled oats which has no sugar, but I can't stand it without milk and cinnamon. )8 thats where it all comes from.. sadly. i wish this was easier haha.
doesn't help that i'm more of a fruit person than vegetable, they fill me up too fast. if i went vegan i'd probably only net 100 calories a day.. like 3 baby carrots has me full for a few hours.
i've heard that soy milk isn't good for you, nnngh. i've been wanting to try almond milk though, but its like $4 for a little bottle-thing which looks like its barely half a gallon.
i'll check out watermelon.. how would you even measure that lol. i miss the days where eating wasnt complicated.0 -
those natural sugars are okay for you especially if you eat with fiber or some protein. I know it may seem that way but on a molecular level and what you eat with them and how it interacts with your body is hugely different. But good luck.........0

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how you can tell there is a ridiculous problem on these forums when it comes to sugar.
Yes, cut out healthy vitamin packed foods like fruit because they have sugar in them. How that makes sense is beyond any sort of rational comprehension I can wrap my head around. Good luck with that. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a cup of blueberries with banana I need to finish.0 -
sugar headaches?
ok..here is my issue. we NEED sugar!!! well glucose. of course fruit sugars and other plant sugars (grains, veggies) are digested a little differently. but the point is..we get our energy from carbs/sugars. that why you are so tired and thats probably why you say you have headaches. its good to not eat sugary stuff that is bad for you, but in itself sugar is NOT evil or unhealthy. but like anything, it taken in excess it can be harmful. as long as you are eating a well rounded HEALTHY diet of whole grains, healthy fats, veg etc you'll be at your optimum0
