Well hello....

My name's Kailyn. I'm thirteen and I'm from Canada. Please, don't judge me for being here, I realize I'm underage. I've been looking for motivational sights for losing weight or staying healthy and this one seemed great. I'm not trying to diet or anything. I'm DEATHLY afraid of eating disorders, tying in with my irrational fear of vomiting, oh lets not even get into that one...

I'm about 5'5 (I believe,) and as of yesterday, I weight 120. I do NOT own a scale and don't wish to, I think it'll send me over the edge. Typically before yesterday I was 116. I am on my period so hopefully it's water weight or something. I know in my head that's a very healthy and good weight, but I can't help but feel insecure because I've never weighed this much before. I think it's the age thing going through my mind, too. "Oh man, I'm only thirteen, I shouldn't weigh this much!" when really that has nothing to do with it anymore. I developed early, I've had big boobs for the past two years and I got my period in fifth grade, by no means have I ever been "fat" though.

Anyway, my main concern is my stomach. Not concern really... but anyway... I actually don't mind my body. I think I look nice and healthy, as I'm getting my figure and all (it's kind of wonky but of course I'm still growing.). I'm only self-conscious about my stomach. Like when I sit down, or hang out at the beach. I'm always sucking in. I really want to change that. I go to the gym, I work out about an hour and a half to two hours, and I go for runs. Okay, I shouldn't phrase it like that, since summer has come and I've been busy I haven't been doing my routine. But I plan to when I get back from my vacations.

Anyway, I just thought I'd introduce myself. I made this account literally ten minutes ago, I'm still getting the hang of it... so, there we have it.

At 5'5" and 120 pounds, you have a BMI of 20.0. Which puts you within 2 points of being underweight (1.5 points, actually). You are at a perfectly healthy and fantastic weight for your height right now. Realistically, for the next few years you should expect to gain more weight. Not a lot, do not worry! But you will gain some especially if you grow any taller. That is normal and expected of teenagers even if you have already started puberty.

If you are worried about your body, I would suggest doing toning exercises instead of focusing on losing weight because, honestly, you probably should not lose any weight at your BMI considering you are still developing. Just focus on what is called maintenance, eat back your exercise calories, and work on some toning exercises.

Hi there! After reading your post I think this website will be great to develop good habits. The sooner you can start tracking your food and getting a good workout schedule the better. I'm 18 now and I wish I had started earlier. I think for your height and weight you are perfectly normal!

I t happens, we're human, we're not perfect. ( i hope i never am, its so boring). since youre still 13 your body is changing so you will gain some weight. Its natural. You can friend me if you'd like. Best of luck.

I know plenty of girls your age who run regularly. I think it might be good for you to look around and get info about how to be fit and healthy for the future. You are at a good weight now and unless you really want to tone up you shouldn't worry about it at all. You do not have to vomit to have an eating disorder to be aware of signs and things to do and not do while trying to be healthy. That is the main focus your health and developing good habits. :) Good luck.

    Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I really just want to stay in shape and start eating healthier. Not "dieting" because I'm not at the best age for it, lol, but just adding more healthy foods. I'm a pescetarian so I don't eat red meats (I know it supposed to be all meats and just fish... buuut I love chicken too much so I've basically just cut out all red meats,). It's pretty recent though, after watching this video in class... ugh, anyway, I just want a better tummy! Otherwise I'm pretty pleased and proud of my figure!

My daughter is 13, and wishes to join this site, too. But, since she is underage, she is not supposed to. As for your tummy, just do partial situps. Don't do a complete situp, but rather use your abdomen to lift your head and neck , as if doing a situp, but stop there. Don't tuck your chin down, but instead keep your head level.
You're developing and should not be overly concerned at this point. Also, make sure your motivation is health, don't let it be "what others think" and things like that.

Spot toning is not possible. You will build abdominal muscles from doing crunches, but any tummy you have on top will be burned off by cardio and calorie burn. Good luck!
