I had an evaluation done with Herbalife and they told my I needed 119 g. of protein..??? I am confused on how to get that much without adding the calories?0

I've been under - way under- how do you eat that much protein? what are you eating? it's not milk is it? I hate milk ..0

BUMP!!
I have the same problem & I'm curious as to what others will say.
I've heard before that if you're doing a lot of strength training you're suppose to eat 1 gram of protein for every pound that you weigh. But that sounds a way too high in my opinion. I think that may be for heavy body builders.0 -
you can change your settings you need at least 1gram per lb of body weight0

well, I wouldn't trust herbalife as those consultants aren't educated, they only tell you what they are trained to do.
I know that some people don't handle protein well, and others don't handle carbs well. you will have to go with how you feel when you eat certain things. I don't have a website, but maybe check out the new food guide, that use to be a pyramid.0 -

No, it's not a bad thing. The default percentage for protein on MFP is 15% which is low if you are doing cardio and strength training. Everyone is different for how they like their percentages and there are differing viewpoints about what should be "right", so you'll want to ask around or do some research to determine what's right for you. I personally set mine at 40/40/20% for carbs/protein/fat.0 -
i add protein through lean meats ) ex: a can of tuna in water is 90 cals & 26g protein, turkey breast is 60 cals & 13g protein ♥ decrease your carbs to increase your protein so you're not going over in calories.0

I'm under carbs under fat but over protein, and fibre which I would think that that is not a bad thing but I am also slightly going over calories some days as well my goal protein on here is 109 and I'm over 64 already today oppps!!0

Wicked cricket... I have been having half a chicken breast with lunch, soy and linseed brown bread toast with breakfast and a banana in a day they are my highest protein points with either chicken, fish and sometimes pork with dinner. If I dont have chicken in my salad I have a tin of sealord tuna0

My trainer recommended 55% carbs, 20% fat, and 25% protein for my calorie breakdown. I go over on protein and/or fat sometimes but stay within my daily calories by not eating all my carbs. I think it would be hard (and bad!) to stick to 15% protein if you are strength training.0

That will be a trade off. You have to learn to eat more protein rich foods in sacrifice of typically carbs. Look at your typical diet and see where your carbs come from and replace some of those foods for proteins.
And protein powder is one way to do it. You don't have to use Herbalifes.0 -
i have my macros set to 40% carbs 30% protein & 30% fat ) & that gives me approx 100g protein a day & i also aim for over 20g of fiber ♥0

I go over on protein all the time but don't mind because I feel great and stay within my calories. I generally eat one or two eggs for breakfast and the type of bread I eat contains a lot of protien (Dave's killer bread or Ezekial bread). Kashi Go Lean Crunch also has 9 grams of protein per serving. I generally don't consider it a problem to be over on protein and fiber. That's good stuff.0

Thanks guys I am going to now go and discover how to change my settings.I like the percentage idea so might adapt with that.I work better with protein than I do with more carbs so may make the carb percentage a little less. Thanks for all the advice guys your comments have definatly helped!0

How do you change it?0
-
To change settings go to home then click goals and change my goals then it says recommended or custom: set my own. Choose to set ur own...And then u can change it0

How do I change my settings to how much i need?0

Under Goals tab, press change goals, and select the custom option. Should be self explanatory from there.0

for cardio and strength training, my trainer/nutritionist said 3-4 oz of some form of meat (or protein replacement) per meal. That would be 5 times a day for me....BUT, that is just what my trainer said for me. I don't closely follow the guidelines on here about going over on my protein. Glad to find out I can change that, though. The more you know.... :bigsmile:0
