HRM accuracy?

Hi everyone!
Hopefully someone can help me out, I'm not really sure how to search the internet for an answer. My question has to do with calorie burn as calculated by my HRM. My heartrate tends to get extremely high when I work out, like in the 185-195 range. I'm otherwise perfectly healthly, my weight is in the normal range for my height, resting heart rate is quite low.
What I'm wondering is, is caloric burn always tied directly to heart rate? Should I trust what my moniter tells me I've burned? I'm worried that I think I've burned more than I really have. Thanks!

What kind of HRM do you have?0

I usually go by what my HRM tells me, but I remember reading that it may not be 100% accurate for some people who are out of the "norm."

I've asked the same thing, because my HRM (timex) tells me I've burned 700-800 calories in a half hour on the eliptical. Well, kind of on anything.. lol My heart rate is usually in the 170's as I'm working out. I've questioned myself how correct it is, and most of the responses on here were that it was too high. I still wear it, because I like to see how my heart rate is throughout the workout, but I've been entering the calories on the machine or off of MFP instead of my monitor. Sorry I couldn't be more help to you. The advice about asking Songbyrd is good.
