What is "eating raw / clean" and can I prepare with minimal

As with most people in today's world.... Im CRAZY busy.... I work a full time Job, I go to school Full time at night, and on the weekends durring the summer, I work a 2nd job at Skydiving... Its been suggested that I quick my second job.... I just dont want to! Its not a financial reason that I stay.... its just something I love to do, and I love the people there, so that job will be around for a while!!
Im still managing to fit in 5 work outs a week.... Loving the Bootcamp class my Gym offers... and meeting with a trainer at 5:30am Yuck!! lol but, Im very commited to getting back to my goal weight, and being as healthy as I can be!! I have lost 34.4 lbs since April 10th... and I have about 44.6 lbs more to go!!
My question for everyone, is kind of broad... I hear alot of people talking about eating raw or eating clean... now, I believe that means eating non-processed food, and raw veggies etc.. I love the raw vegies...but I dont really know what else is "raw" "clean" and what I can prepare the night before.... for lunch and dinner (I have to pack it, and bring it to work) We do have a fridge at my office, so I can keep things cold. I should mention that I do not eat Red Meat... or Seafood.... (Wish I liked Seafood... it seems to be really healthy)
Ok, so any advice would really help!!!

I like to think I eat clean and I also don't eat red meat.
I eat spinach sandwiches, sometimes with chicken breast (cook night before, put in fridge, add to sandwich). Nuts, like almonds or peanuts are good (plain ones though!)...hmm. I don't know what else to suggest!0 -
beans are also a great alternative to chicken/meat/fish.
I like to make "salad" with quinoa or couscous. Cook quinoa or couscous according to directions (use plain - no flavoring packets). Cool the grain (quinoa or couscous). Add chopped red onion, red/green peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, chopped spinach, black beans or chick peas/garbonzos, black pepper/other spices to your liking. Add a small amount of olive oil and mix really well with the cooled grains. Chill in the fridge. I usually make 4-6 servings so I can eat for dinner a couple of nights and take for lunch the next day. It keeps for 2-3 days MAX. I haven't tried freezing it. . If you want to add light italian dressing that adds some flavor.0 -
It's pretty easy to cool good 'clean' chicken breast to have in salads for lunches: Just make double when you cook it for your dinner then fridge the half for lunch to slice up.
As for a 'raw' food diet, it might be best to google that. You'd probably need a diet book or something to follow to ensure you don't miss out on any essential nutrients.

You are going to hear many opinions on what clean and raw eating is.
Generally Raw = no cooking, processing of any sort. I personally am in awe of anyone that can do this!
Clean - strictist definition here is nothing processed/out of a box. You can still have grilled chicken breast, but people vary on things like cheese and yogurt because it is processed through natural processes. Most people that eat 'clean' follow a percentage of what they will eat that is totally non-processed and what is processed (bread, crackers, that sort of thing)0 -
I just started eating raw/clean. I have a juicer and have been watching a youtube channel: liferegenterator. He has some recipes on his channel page. Also, just recently watched the netflix documentary: Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Also a website and youtube channel with recipes and advice. It really is quite simple. If you still want to eat protein, you can hard-boil eggs to pack and go, or freeze a protein powder shake in a refillable water bottle and drink it when it thaws. I recommend Syntha-6 chocolate powder. It is great tasting and works as a meal replacement too! Good luck!0

anything natural, not canned, dehydrated, or preserved with added salt, sugar, msg, etc..... whole grain foods, (pasta, rice, bread,) eggs, cheese. also it is good to eat some red meat, just not every day. and go for the leanest ones avaliable. also try avoiding the breaded cuts of meat.0

I don't eat raw but I do eat clean most of the time, although this week has not been one of my better ones. I have young kids at home and a full time job so I try and spend as little time in the kitchen possible so I can have more time with my family.
I start with lots of fresh fruits and veggies. I have a membership in a CSA, which brings me a big box of fresh produce every week. I prep it all over the weekend - washed, sliced, snap the beans, and have them ready to go. If you have a local farmer's market, I recommend going once a week and getting whatever appeals to you. I also have a rice cooker and use it to prep not just brown rice, but other grains like quinoa or barley or bulgur. I make a big batch of the grain of my choice and use it for the upcoming meals, switching to a new grain when it is gone.
An example of an ideal daily menu for me:
Br: Quinoa with blueberries and brown rice syrup
Lu: Spinach salad with black beans, random fresh veggies topped with balsamic vinegar and a drizzle of olive oil
Su: Quinoa with black beans, avocado, corn and salsa, lime and cumin
De: Homemade coconut milk ice cream sweetened with maple syrup, topped with berries
Snacks can be raw fruit or veggies, but honestly this is where most of my processed food consumption comes in thanks to the ever present animal cracker container here at my office.0 -
Eating clean and eating raw are not the same thing.
Here's a brief explanation of eating clean:
"In a nutshell, eating clean is the practice of eating whole, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. It also means staying away from the junk that typically makes up the Standard American Diet (S.A.D) These types of food include man-made sugar, bad fats (hydrogenated, trans-fat), preservatives, white bread, and any other ingredients that are unnecessary. Eating raw is literally that: eating nothing cooked (or hot). The diet is based on eating a lot of nuts, fruits, vegetables, etc. All of the raw foodists I've known were also vegan and therefore didn't eat dairy, so I'm not sure if non-vegan raw foodists also abstain from dairy.
I eat clean about 85% of the time. On a typical day I eat 5 meals that are high in protein and moderate in carb and fat. Here is what I ate yesterday:
Meal 1: Steel cut oatmeal with whey protein, blueberries and walnut pieces (325 calories)
Meal 2: scrambled egg whites with shredded skim mozzarella, salsa, and a multigrain low-carb tortilla (260 calories)
Meal 3: lettuce, tomato, cucumber, radish, avocado salad with light dressing, croutons (these are a cheat I refuse to give up) and grilled chicken (300 calories)
Meal 4: shrimp, broccoli and onion stir fry with soy/hoisin/chili paste sauce (the sauce is technically not clean, but I make it myself and use it in moderation, so it's not terrible) (300 calories)
Meal 5: Fage 0% fat yogurt, strawberries, low sodium turkey breast slices and Laughing Cow light wedge, 2 light rye Wasa crackers (280 calories)0 -
there is this book called 12 steps to a whole foods diet....i have just started using it and LOVE it!!! It is all about learning how to transfer your diet to a mostly raw natural whole food diet. She breaks each step into one month incriments, so the idea is that by a year, you have converted over to a raw diet. She includes all kinds of recipes to try. I
