Proform 675 CardioCross Elliptical Trainer

I just purchased the Proform 675 Eliptical Trainer. I've used it a couple of times now and it seems like a good workout. It has a computer that does a readout for time, distance, & calories burned. I was wondering if anyone knew how accurate the calorie burned readout on one of these machines is. See I get a readout of 238 calories burned in 15 minutes from the machine, but when I plug 15 minutes into MFP under elliptical it says 132. I used to have a Gazelle Glider and MFP says I burn 108 calories in 15 minutes on it, and that's not that much less than the elliptical too me and I know I'm sweating, short of breath, and my legs feel like jell-o after being on the Proform for 15 minutes and it was never like that after 15 minutes on the Gazelle.

I think most folks will say go with what your machine says...because based on speed, intensity etc, that will make a difference. I always go off what the machine says. I think that's why they allow you to change that information becasue they know it varies from machine to machine and person to person in terms of workout levels.
Hope this helps.0 -
Does it let you input your weight and age? If it does, go by the machine. If my machine tells me I've burned a lot more than mfp, I usually go by mfp because I'd rather underestimate than overestimate my exercise calories. But a heart rate monitor's really the only way to tell.0

my personal trainer says cut what your machine says in half, as those heart monitors on the newest ones, just are not accurate. he keeps his own file on me, and I have heard this from MANY trainers FYI!!0

The only accurate way to know is with a hrm. Did the machine ask for height, weight, gender? If it does it is probably close-ish. If not it's just a generalization based on a random person who could be very different than you in weight and height.0

You could also try using a heart rate monitor and compare the two values. Mine is usually pretty close to the machine and not what MFP says. That's a great calorie burn for 15 mins! WOW!0
