I would say include more protein in your meal to feel satisfied :)

You'll have to go through the "Mind over Matter"

It's hard. It's one of my biggest challenges today.

ditto. I don't see any protein, except for the tiny amount in the cheese.

Drink some water and get moving.

Drink some water and find an activity that takes a lot of brain power to complete. Good luck!

Yeah, the mental battle is the hardest. I like to keep gum handy so I can keep chewing which helps to trick my mind.

But every once in awhile I really want to eat until I feel totally full, not just "not hungry".

Yes, aside from little tricks like drinking a glass of water or getting more protein in your diet or finding something to distract you, it's hard to get rid of that wanting to eat. I have it all the time. It makes it very difficult for me to tell between being really hungry vs just wanting to eat. I feel like I'm always hungry. Or at least, I could always eat. I'm getting better at telling the difference, but I still have to seriously question it each time I'm about to put something in my mouth.

Yes, add more protein and drink some water.

I often end lunch with 2 dark chocolate Hershey's kisses... having something sweet tricks my body into realizing that mealtime is over.

Hear ya. Old habits die hard (and some die harder than others).

So -- if you can -- get yourself away from food for a while. Outta sight, know what I mean? Drink a big glass of water -- or two. And talk yourself out of it. You're not hungry at all ... so don't give in. You don't need it, you won't be happy if you eat it, it's a step in the absolutely wrong direction. So -- make up your mind that you're not gonna do it, period. You're stronger than this, right? You can win this little battle.

I've had this conversation with myself more than once. A few times, more than once a day. It takes a while, but the discipline WILL pay off. I swear. :)

Time to practice that exercise called "push away" -- get up from the table and do something else! You're having to train your body to stop when you're full.

I agree, too, with the protein suggestion. Another thing is to eat more slowly so that your body has time to register satiety with less food. And one last trick I occasionally use is to end the meal with a bit of something sweet - either a fruit, or one square of dark chocolate (eaten slowly and savored), or something similar (but just a bit!) Sometimes that tricks me into thinking I've had dessert, so I must be done

I feel like that sometimes too. I guess I just got used to boredom eating. What I do when that starts happening now is just start drinking water and find something to do to take your mind off of it. It usually helps if I keep active. Even something little like cleaning house can take my mind off food.

I feel like I want to keep on eating and eating and eating although I am not hungry at all.

That happens to me when I load up on a lot of starchy carbs. I feel full, but at the same time, I still feel hungry. Consider reducing (not eliminating!!) the amount of starchy carbs, increase your veggies and as a previous poster mentioned, increase protein.

Try chewing really slowly, instead of just inhaling your food. Make your brain realize that you ARE feeding your body! Another plus about this technique: studies show that chewing your food until it's like applesauce can help you lose weight, because your body doesn't have to work so hard to digest it!

I think everyone has days like that!
Try to eat more protein, or get some raw almonds/mixed nuts. Having a protein shake always helps me. They usually clock in around 130-190 calories depending on what you mix with it. HELPS so much.

I can't see your diary, but from what you have said here, there are too many carbs, which turn into sugar and leave you feeling hungry and will cause you to crave more carbs. Try to eat more veggies and lean protien. Drink some water, munch on celery, carrots, apples... whatever raw veggies you like. Go for a walk or whatever exercise you enjoy. Find something to keep you busy and keep your mind off of food.

Drink a glass of water before eating. That should start you off a bit better.

Are you eating whole grains? Switch to brown rice and a whole wheat tortilla if you aren't. And like some of the other people said, add some more protein.

I am usually hungry all of the time so i keep a lot of healthy snacks around. After you eat, drink more water and wait a little bit. Try to get busy so you are distracted. If you are still hungry, then you are really hungry and you should have a small healthy snack. If not, then you were just bored or it was just in your head that you should have more...

I have the same problem - frequently! His name is Timmy (Tapeworm) ~ I can eat and eat and MYproblem is that, most times, I don't get full. I'm learning ways to curb these binges ~ not easy ~ but I'm confident that these feelings can be beat! I'm in agreement with some of the others ~ add some protein to your meals to balance out the carbs you're ingesting ~ that might help. Good luck ~ and if you want to chat more about this with someone who can totally relate ~ you know where to find me. :)

    Thanks for all the tips!
I drank a banana milk shake (just put 1 cup of milk and 1/2 a banana in a blender) and I feel satisfied now.

Your comments are very helpful though, I need to drink more water and eat more protein.

THANKS! With your support, I WILL win this battle!! :D
