Now I will tell you I am a Payless kinds gal! But I have been spending about 1 1/2 hours at the gym 5 days a week and my payless new balance sneakers are not cutting it. I am getting blisters. So clearly I need to bite the bullet and buy a nice pair of sneakers. I don't even know where to start. I know they will be a heck of a lot more than the $25 I am used to spending but what is normal. $50, $80, $100? I don't need them to be pretty, just super comfortable. Also where should I be buying these Foot Locker, Modells? I really am out of my depth her.

Personally, I most often buy New Balance 574, because they come in B width and I have wide feet.

Since I've got size 11 feet, i got lucky and bought a nice pair of nike cross trainers ($90) for only $30 on clearance since it was the only size left at a local mom& pop store. I put a Birkenstock insole in them and no more foot pain, which has plagued me for years!!

For any woman who is most comfy in her Birks, go online & get an insole to put in your running shoes. I wish I had done it years ago. The insert can but put in my dress shoes too and then i can spend a little less on the shoes and move the insole around.

I have had great luck with athletic shoes at Marshall's and also a sporting goods store called Big 5 that always has some good brands greatly reduced. I've got Nike and other brand names for $25. Check your area for similar discounts.
  • I had to go & buy better workout shoes also. Look online, check the weekend/Sunday sales & you can find some good name band sneakers like; New Balance, Nike, Reebok, etc for around $45-$60 bucks even. If that's seems like it's a little higher than what you would like or normally pay, it's worth the investment. Having better shoes to workout in supports you feet & legs. You spend more money buying cheep shoes actually. With cheap shoes they wear out faster & it adds up in the long run to be more money. Check out sales, & you should be able to luck out on some good deals.

Go with Sketchers. They're awesome and they've recently done across the board price cuts.

I don't know where you live but in Canada we have the "Running Room". Go someplace like this and BE PROFESSIONALLY fitted for gym shoes!! They don't carry only running shoes and it doesn't cost anything to be fitted. The shoes prices range quite a bit too.

I went to DSW and bought a pair for 75. They're gray and pink (I HATE white shoes) and I feel ever so springy in them. I got blisters once when I broke them in, but not since. I can't remember what brand, but do shop around for a good price.
