Hard to Keep Up!

I'm finding it incredibly hard to keep up with the amount of calories it's tell me I should stay at! I'm 225lbs, fairly active, and it's saying I should lose weight at about 1240 calories a day. I find that I'm eating this by the end of lunch/mid-afternoon! It's awful! I'm a fairly picky eater, but making sure to get in a good amount of fruits and vegetables. It's incredibly un-motivating to not be able to meet this goal many, if any days.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions!?!
