Are you using a HRM?

I try to push myself all the time throughout my training but maybe I need to get one just to check if I'm on track.
I'm not looking for an excuse to buy something but I wanted your feedback to see if you are using one or not.

If so, what brand/model do you have.

I have been wanting one to more accurately track calories burned and know when I am in the zone on heart rate. I finally sucked it up and ordered a Polar FT7. Got it today, can't wait to use it on my run tonight! I think it will be a great $75 investment.

I have the Polar PF7 and use it when I am walking outside to see how much I burn. When I am at the gym, I use the machines hrm and use that as a gage if I am pushing it or not.

I found at some gyms if I used my monitor on the treadmill or eliptical it was affecting other peoples machines. LOL!

I LOVE Mine - wouldn't want to workout without it if possible - and in all honesty - I found I was pushing TOO hard and burning calories the wrong way you know?

I got a New Balance one at Target for $50 and I love it. I feel it's more accurate than MFP.

I think a HRM is essential if you are serious about logging calories in vs calories out - gym machines and the myfitnesspal calculators may as well be random for all the use they are.

I decided to get one to track calories burned and to make sure I'm working at a fat burn workout. So I bought the polar Ft7 yesterday on eBay for $62.99. I can't wait I think it will be more accurate then the machines.

Researched reviews on HRM this morning because I wanted one that would track calories burned. I found great reviews on the Polar FT7 and bought one at Best Buy today.

I love my Polar FT7 -- (the women's version) After trying several other brands and styles, this one actually matches the numbers at the gym when I did my "official" testing -- most of them were way off -- sometime by more than double.

The machines at my gym are also synced to Polar so that is a bonus.

Get a Polar F6 or higher if you want the most accurate numbers since it can track v02.

I have the Polar FT4. I have one for calorie counts but mostly to monitor my heart rate. I'm a cardiac patient and I feel it's an obligation to exercise responsibly. For example, last week while running a 5K, I noted my high heart rate and knew that I had to take things back a notch to stay safe.

I have an older Polar F11, which is equivalent to a FT60 from what I’ve heard. Mine calculates your low, medium and high exercise intensity heart beat ranges and lets you know if you are in or out of the ranges. I’m really out of shape but I try to keep my heart rate at the top of the medium range, and have occasionally crept into the high range. At the end of my exercise, it tells me how many minutes were in each range and calories burned. You can let it calculate the ranges automatically or do it manually. I use that in conjunction with my Droid and RunKeeper, an app, that tells me how long, how far, and at what rate (MPH) I traveled, and even puts it on Google Maps for me. I LOVES toys!

Well, I'm still saving for mine. I've got my eye on the Polar brands.
