Running Form

So, I ran my first 5K last weekend. In training I've concentrated on all the form items you hear about - relax your shoulders, good posture, mid-foot strike, etc. and I think I've been doing well to form good habits. However, I just took a look at the pictures from the event and realize that I turn my feet to the outside. Any tips on correcting this??

  • Toes pointing out or weight on outside of foot?

Have you been in to a running store to have them watch you and suggest shoes? I find that to be helpful.

Toes pointing out. Sorry - I should have pointed out that I do have shoes from a specialty store that did the full analysis and picked them out for me - no issue with foot pain, or rolling or uneven weight - just the fact that my toes point out at an angle instead of straight in front of me.

That can actually be how your body is built. If it feels natural you should be fine, trying to adjust that can end up really screwing with your knees.

I know form is important, but if that's natural to you and you're not experiencing any pain just roll with it.
