Hi-

I am going to start doing Zumba and kickboxing at the YMCA 3 times a week and I know each class is about 60 minutes with a warm-up and cool down...do you count that warm-up and cool down in the calorie burn? Do you put 60 minutes kickboxing when the last 5-10 minutes was of stretching? Just curious.... Thank you for any advice or opinions!

Laura

Yes.. i start my HRM the minute class starts and turn it off when I get to my car...that walk is part of my cool down.

For Zumba, I usually track from 425-500 and I work pretty hard and have been going for a year.
I know the sites say you can get 1200 an hour...but until you get an HRM ...your guesses will be way off! (Mine sure were)

I agree with MissMary for the most part - I start my HRM the instant the class starts, but I turn it off right after the cool down; I also average between 425 - 500 calories per 60 minute class (and it's high energy).

I competely agree. You can tell when you heart rate is dropping, and you are not burning as much
