Double Dissatisfaction

"Eat me"... The Heath Bar called to me from the checkout stand. That land of impulse-buying where sugar laden everything beckons.
"You know you want to, you've been doing really well, and it's FRIDAY Bud!" The glint of the wrapper in the overhead halogen lighting gave it the look of a brand new ferrari in the showroom.
"Come on man, food is not a reward or punishment, you HAVE to enjoy yourself or you're gonna fall off this tofu wagon.". ..Now it was just daring me.

So I broke down and got it. 210 calories of choco-toffee indulgence. But the little reward was short-lived. No sooner had I chomped it and I knew the blood sugar spike wouldn't be far off, so I thought I'd chase it with some protein. My very poor choice for such protein? BACO TELL drive through. Yup, 720 calories just in that "please pull forward" mistake.

After stuffing my face like Frodo Baggins after a pipe-weed binge, the crazy thing is I'm STILL hungry.

Normally, my three pm snack consists of 2 oz of greek yogurt, some fruit, or maybe smoked sardines (yes, I really do like them)
it usually comes out to about 200 calories or so, and I'm good for another three hours. But now I feel like I could destroy a large pizza with no problem.

My solution for this is simple: Time to pay for it this time chubs. I'm adding an extra 1,000 calories to my workout for today, for a solid 2 grand burn. I may be at the gym for 4 hours, but this is less of a punishment than it is as a little reminder of just how much energy can come from such a small amount of dissatisfying temptation. Crazy? Maybe. But I want to know next time I drive past a Baco Tell, exactly how much extra time on that treadmill or stairmaster or elliptical will this burrito be?

I am in charge, not the drive-thru window, and certainly not Mr. Heath's Choco-toffee goodness.

That check out counter can be a *****! But you have a point, if you food is not a reward or a punishment and OCCASIONALLY you do have to enjoy your food if you're going to continue in this journey - at least that's my idea of all of this? Good luck on your 4 hour gym crunch!

I had one of those moments when I started my second week of counting/tracking. When I stepped on the scale, I was bummed I didn' t lose as much weight as I had anticipated. So....I know what I should not do from now on. Everyone keeps telling me "you can have a little bit of chocolate every once in a while as a treat" but the thing is, I can't! If I have one small bite, I will devour the whole bag of bite-sized fun. You're more motivated than me, though. I would go walking but would never burn off all the calories I ingested. Good for you!
