Water - How do you get it all in?

I get through 16 to 20 glasses (4 to 5 litres) per day. My routine is:

Get to work at 9am
Before 10am I'll go and drink 3 glasses (one after the other) at the water cooler and take one back to my desk. That's the first litre.
By the time that's got through me and I need to use the loo, I'll finish what's left of the glass on my desk, use the toilet and thrash down 3 more and take one back to my desk. That's litre 2.
I slow down to 2 at a time after that - 1 straight down at the cooler and 1 to take back to my desk.
Every time I need a pee I finish my glass and get another 2 glasses - continued throughout the day.
I love coffee but I won't allow myself one until I'm at least 12 glasses in as a motivator to get it down.
Lather, rinse, repeat until 5:30

I'd be interested to know how you all keep yourselves on track (or don't) with water consumption?

That's probably more water than you actually need from what I've read anyhow. I've read that half your weight in ounces is a good number to go with. (ie if you weigh 200lbs you should drink 100oz.)

I have a 14-ounce bottle that I use all day long. I will down 14 ounces with breakfast. Then when I get up to go to the bathroom, I refill it and drink another 14 ounces. I do this anytime I go to the bathroom. By dinner, I've drank all of my water and more.

I drink my morning coffee as soon as I get up. I allow myself 1.5 8oz cups of it. Once I have finished those - I grab my water bottle. I drink 20oz of water then. If I have to work - I drink another 20oz while I'm getting ready for work/on my way to work. Then I drink 20oz while at work and 20oz when I get home. Now, if I don't work - it varies a little bit. It's been very hot, so I have been upping my water intake but it seems to be backfiring as I've seen a weight gain since I started drinking more. But, I am very thirsty because of the heat - so I keep going with it. Weight gain or not.

My body likes if I stay between 80-100oz a day and I've been over that lately.
  • I drink a liter with breakfast, a cup with a snack, a liter with lunch, a cup with a snack, and a liter with dinner. That equals mannnnnnnny trips to the bathroom! "/

I'm a real bad night owl so after midnight i usually drink 2-20oz bottles of water and thats 5 glasses right there. Then i'll go to sleep around 2am when i get up i drink another 20oz bottle of water so thats a total of 7.5 glasses of water then i'll sit at my home desk with a bottle of water and once that water is done i go grab another one and then another and another. (i reuse my water bottles so i keep them full all the time) I drink a bottle of water with lunch and dinner and then before i know it i've drank between 13 to 17 glasses of water a day. By the end of the day i'm practically running to the restroom!!!

    That's a lot of water.

I may have iced tea in the morning, in which case I don't hit the water til late morning or noon. I have a pint with lunch and then usually one or two more in the afternoon depending on the amount of speaking I'm doing. On days I'm speaking all day, I'll usually have two pints before lunch and then two more after lunch.

When I get home, I have another right away, and then maybe 2-3 more before I'm done.

I would say I make normal trips to the bathroom? lol

Some days I only get my 8 cups, other days I have 14 cups. I don't really stress it. I only drink water, iced tea, and I may have a gatorade or something every once in a while. Juice is like a special treat, usually a Fuze Banana Colada. I don't drink coffee, soda, or anything interesting. Might have a beer on a special occasion.

Holy jeez! That's a lot of water. I rarely reach my 8 glasses a day but I always have at least 6. I do 2 first thing when I get to work, and then fill up my water bottle up and bring it to my desk. The rest of the day, I take a huge gulp every time I think about food (you know, if it's not eating time). And every time someone asks me if I want a treat of some sort (they're always floating around here for some reason!) and I'm even slightly tempted, I finish a glass. I can't believe you drink so much. OMG!

So I believe.. But it's probably not doing me any harm either :)

To tell truth, I really enjoy getting water down me. Psychologically, I think I've conditioned myself to believe that every pee is flushing out more toxins and keeping my body running at clean.

I should clarify, that's only work days. Weekends I'm running around so much I usually manage about 6 to 8 if I'm lucky!

I find I gain weight over each weekend too which could be linked... No stress though, I only take Saturday morning weigh in's as absolute :)

I have a 32 oz (which is almost a litre) stainless steel water bottle that I keep refilling all day. I usually drink 5-6 of those during the week (at work) and about 4-5 on the weekends.
