I have a bit of dilemma and need some advice. I have not official been diagnosed with PCOS, however I have several of the symptoms ( hairy arms and a bit on the face, skin tags, dark patches, carb sensitive) and my lab work came back with my DHEA elevated, but when I check my sugars they are always normal. Anyways, I was put on Metformin a couple weeks ago and have worked my way up to 1500 mg. I am also on Yasmin and have been for 6 years. This is where my dilemma lies. So far I have had success with my regular doctor ( not that he knows all that much), my mom, who is a nurse, wants me to see an endocrinologists in a town about 5 hours away. Not only would this be a hassle with work and school, I would have to do it by September because my parents are moving and there for losing insurance. I feel like I have a handle on it and there isn't much she could tell me, what do you all think? Should I go just to see? She also wants me to see a nutritionist which I am not sure of. The only question I have is about cutting out dairy for PCOS.

I've dealt with PCO for years. I haven't had to give up anything.

Personally, I would agree with your mom on seeing an endo. who specializes in PCO and Diabetes. Not saying you have it. That's where I've had the best treatment. My regular doc and ob/gyn were totally clueless!! Unfortunately, it took a diagnosis of Diabetes to go to this dr.

    That's just my .02.
