I think the main objective of this website is (and should remain to be) to provide support, share experience of what really works, offer encouragement, and learn from each other. That’s what people who struggle with weight loss do, or should be doing, in addition to their individual efforts, if they want to be successful.
Therefore I accept friendship requests from practically anybody who honors me with such a request. I don’t know if my posts or messages are helpful, but I try to be honest and positive in my communication.
I do have a main two-point message that I share with anybody who wants to listen to. It is that one can lose weight without feeling hungry and that the weight loss can be achieved without exercise. I believe it is a positive message that can give hope to those who have lots of pounds to lose or unsuccessfully tried to lose weight before, or both (what it’s usually the case).
What gives additional value to this website is that the posts here clearly show that we are normal people who have feelings and needs as well. We are not “those people” who live with or view the world through the single weight loss issue.
I just read an archived thread on whose attention is more desirable – from spouse or stranger. While reading the responses I noticed how honest some people want to be while discussing not weight related matters here.
It appears that since we all share the weight loss issue, it makes us more open and more sensitive to all issues presented here. It appears that other subjects are easier to communicate and experiences to share. We are kind of friends here. The communication occurring here and opportunities to connect with others who are open and honest enhance our lives.
I am so happy that I joined this website.

I'm sending a request (rare that I do that) because you said the one thing I've been trying to tell everyone else: you can lose without feeling hungry! Thank you!!0

This losing without feeling hungry thing was going well, until tonight for some reason. It was quite strange, I reduced my sugar intake the past two days, I'm gong to blame that0

I believe you. I've lost weight without exercise, too.
Just that this time around is different. While I hate exercise, I like that it 'frees' up calories for me. And, well, got to admit, I'm getting quite impressed with the muscles in my legs and arms. Now, if the rest would follow. lol0 -

Without seeing how your diary is (and you don't have to open it for me), it's hard to say. For me, if I have too many sugary things, it increases my hunger. Same with sodium...it's not just thirst. I wish I had saved it to refer to it, but I recently read where sodium can make you hungry. I can vouche for it! lol0 -

Eat an apple.
I know that apples contain sugar, but the fiber in apples allows the sugar to be released at a steady rate.
The fiber in apples also helps us feels satisfied.
I try to eat several each days.0 -
My personal trainer is suggesting to keep my sugar <10g for 2 weeks.0

I agree with mrk. Also, you need to eat closer to your calorie goal. I wouldn't worry about tracking sugar...but, that's me.0

Saw the title of your post topic whilst sitting in front if the computer drinking a glass of red coincidental hey? I also agree with the losing weight without exercise. I have lost weight with and without though I must admit that with the exercise I do have the added bonus of increased energy levels and physical strength but I dont beat myself up if I dont feel like going.0

Nice earnest post. And great accomplishment on you weight loss so far.
One question - are you advocating no exercise, or just simply pointing out that it can be done without exercising. While I completely agree that you don't have to exercise to lose weight, I would recommend exercising over not exercising for the heart and health benefits, and for the retention or addition of lean muscle mass (which will increase your resting metabolic rate and hence burn even more fat).0 -
Hi Taso42:
I pointed out that one does not have to exercise to lose weight.
There are lots of health benefits of exercise, but exercise has minor effect on weight loss.
Fully agree with you that people with heart condition will benefit tremendously from exercise.
Also agree with you on the muscle loss issue.

I lost over 18lbs my first month without exercising and without being hungry. It's great to see others taking a similar journey. It doesn't have to be complicated. I didn't exercise my first month because I'm on oxygen full time and waited until my doctor cleared me and I had an oximeter to give me reassurance that I was still ok O2 wise.0 -
just to add.... Apples and Cucumbers burn more calories to eat then they what you recieve from them, so they are negative calorie food, really wonderful foods to eat. Love my Granny smith apples.
But yes, the diet is really the key in lowering body fat, and when I mean diet, I am talking eating healthy foods, Salads, nuts, chicken, not starving yourself.
Portion control is really a major factor .0 -
I have read a few studies recently that say the same.0

I've lost over 120lbs without any exercise other than a little walking. I have now joined a gym a few weeks ago as I want to aid in my weight loss by adding lean muscle & improving my cardio0

Great post, Mark...We all can do this, we all have different circumstances in our lives that we are dealt. One thing I believe is...Remember actions brings reaction. When you are tempted to abandon your dreams, push yourself to continue one more day, one more week, one more month, and one more year. You will be amazed at what happens when you refuse to quit.

There are many days I have wanted to give in and give up but the friendships I am made online between this website, dailymile, and few others. My friends are what carries me through and help me push myself and deal w/ personal issuses. Good luck to you my friend!0 -
Further on from this topic is the fact that if you really dont feel like exercise or you get stressed out for whatever reason then this can have a negative effect on weightloss. They are only now really coming to grips with the effects of stress on our health. Stress can increase our chances of cancer, make us hungry and eat more, retain weight, have an adverse effect on our general wellbeing. I really am not a gym person its not that I dont like going to the gym just not everyday forcing myself to go. I used to beat myself up mentally when I didnt go and have real internal battles with myself to get there and not surprisingly fell off the rails more times than I care to remember.
Im an advocate of being active I think this is a key to losing weight healthily. I try not to spend a lot time sitting on the couch or in front of the telly. If I do sit I have to be doing something else even if it is knitting, reading or drawing it cant be just sitting. I try to be energetic when walking and cleaning the house, I do gardening and walking I also always use stairs. Even cooking a meal I choose the most energetic method preparing food from raw product so buying whole foods that I chop and cut myself.
There is a lot of health benefits for being just active in everything you do both mentally and physically.0
