Which is better - 2% milk or soy milk?

I'm wondering if I should give up 2% milk for something soy based in order to save calories? I belive the soy milks may have more protein also. They cost more than a gallon of milk, but I don't drink much milk anymore - usually just on cereal. What's your opinion?

I switched to almond milk about 4 months ago and swear by it! Not full of hormones and antibiotics. I have also been eating few processed foods and my skin and hair look so much better!:glasses:

Soy isn't very good for you, to be honest. It contains a lot of phytoestrogen, which the body will confuse with our regular estrogen and can aggravate symptoms of endometroisis, can cause dysmenorrhea, and other gynecological side effects. I'm not saying it's so bad that nobody should eat it, but if you're buying organic milk, it is usually better for you than soy. If you want to stay away from dairy milk, then I would recommend either almond or rice milk. Neither of those contain phytoestrogen or estrogen like cow milk or soy milk. :)

Hardly worth the switch if it's only for milk on cereal.

Does anyone else in the house drink milk? I switched to soy for other reasons than saving a couple of calories, but I still have to buy regular milk because no-one else likes the soy! Good job it lasts a lot longer than cows milk.

I use almond milk in my cereal/oatmeal to save calories. It's only 40 calories per cup for the unsweetened almond milk.. both the original and vanilla flavoured!

I drink organic 2%. I'm allergic to soy, and I think almond and rice milk taste awful.

I love my Silk PureAlmond Unsweetened. There is only 1g of protein, but it has 50% more calcium than regular milk, full of antioxidants and lactose free and dairy free. Has a nice thick sweetness to it. Great for protein shakes too.

And it only has 35 calories in one cup.

Soy products mess with my cycle, so I don't go anywhere near it. There's only a few soy products that are considered healthy (and soy milk is not one of them, but I stay away because of the side effects it gives me.

Almond Milk!!! It is better for you then cow's milk nutrient wise and tastes better! Soy milk is gross in my opinion. I get Silk Original Almond Milk for 60 calories a cup. I tried the unsweetened because it was only 30 calories but hated it. I would stick with the original, vanilla, or dark chocolate! I am never going back to cow's milk!

I really like the taste of unsweetened soy, milk tastes really sickly to me. I mix it with protein shakes and could also happily drink a big glass of it which I haven't been able to do with milk since I was young. Only switch if you like the taste I reckon. I also like the lack of fat and the quantiy of protein of course. Only problem I have is that it splits in my coffee (unless its heated up strangely)

Try the others to see which you like best. If they don't suit your palate stick with the 2% but make sure its organic

Soy milk is so tasty, but IMO 2% milk is better for you, because it supplies you with calcium. Which is important to prevent osteoporosis especially for women. Unless you get your calcium from other sources of dairy, I'd recommend the 2%
