Post is from 2011.... Sheesh, I fall for it every time.
  • I have exactly the same issue. I’m getting headaches and I normally never do, i don’t think I’ve done anything different recently except drunk more water as part of trying to be healthier. I normally drink hardly any and feel fine. I’ve been drinking a litre a day and feeling terrible.

I have had a dehydration headache once after I ran a big race on a hot day. That was agony. But normally I drink very little water and feel fine.

I don’t just have headaches since starting the water, I also have a very foggy headed feeling like I did when I did a detox in the past. But I’m not really detoxing, I’m just adding water.

Could it be that my body is different and I need less water, so even “the right amount” feels excessive?

Or is the water flushing out toxins making me feel ill and if I push through I’ll be ok?

I would get headachy if I'm dehydrated. But also if I have under eaten for the day that also gives me headaches - its the body's way of telling you it needs either water or nutrients.

How do people keep finding these zombie threads? By the way newbies always ask the same questions over and over I assume nobody knows how to use the search feature. But... Apparently... Some people do

I suspect it's Google/Yahoo/Bing at fault. Someone does a web search and finds a thread, joins MFP to comment and doesn't notice the Necro thread.

You might want to ask your doctor if this continues. I go to Curves, and a lady that used to belong had an issue with her water drinking. She was drinking too much water and removing too many important nutrients. I know that her potasium was very low, but I can't remember what else. She was trying to get in between 60 and 100 oz. of water per day, but she wasn't a very big person, so it was too much.
Maybe ask the doctor how much they you should have.

This was my thought. Drinking more water than your body needs is diuretic. If constant or excessive you could be messing up your electrolyte balance.

Our bodies needs water but more isn't always better.

I've just realised this is an extremely old thread! doh!! :/
  • Might be depleted electrolytes. Add some salt to your diet.

I can get a headache if I drink cold water out of the fridge system.
